“Is nothing unheard in this place?” I whisper.

“You imagine it was any different in Alexandria?” Juba asks in reply.

Considering it, and how Mother always seemed to know everything, I suppose he’s right. Without answer, I move forward, setting the bowl on the floor. When I dip my hands in, I can feel the lingering energy from the spirits of the moon and sea.

Whispers return to me, warning me against healing the yuvaraja. I banish them, determined to do what I can.

I love writing the small talk and banter between my characters; feel like it helps shape their personality so much.

“Unless they were both caught immediately and the Gremlins had no need to raise the alarm.” Balldrick was leaning against a tree, relatively relaxed given the circumstances. “Or maybe it’s a silent alarm and we’ll have Gremlins surrounding us in just a minute.”

“Ha, ha. Funny,” I said.

“Was worth a shot,” he replied, standing up straight and stretching.

“I hope your actual shots find their mark better than your jokes do.”

“Oh, you can count on that.”

“Yeah? Been practicing?”

“Every evening.”

“Not in the Guild Hall’s training room, though?”

“Nope. No competition to be had."

“Ouch!”

Hey everyone! Here is a snippet from Chapter 8 of Summoned!

Zerathon’s eyes darted around the circle on the ground, then nodded. “Yes,” he said. “It’s a simple power exchange. Girl, come over here. Come, now, quickly!”

Ennette didn’t seem too keen on the idea as she stood rubbing her arm with a distrustful look in her eye. Sighing, Maziar walked toward her and offered her his hand. She looked at it as if he was offering her something he’d used to wipe his arse with.

With a snort, he said, “Really, it’s clean, and if this goes well, you can go right on back to where you came from, and we can all pretend this never happened.”

“I’m pretty sure it's not happening anyway,” Ennette mumbled, lifting her hand. It hovered over his for a moment before she pulled back and asked: “Exactly how much of my hand do you need? Like… do you need my full hand, or can I just like… touch you like—”

She poked the tip of his forefinger with hers and withdrew it again like a recoiling snake. Rolling his eyes, Maziar reached over and grabbed it himself, squeezing tighter whenever she tried to resist him.

I ran, focusing all the power in my lower half. When Nora hit three, I jumped as high as I could. My amity-assisted jump would have earned me gold, even before Nora’s spell caught my backside.

“Ventos!” Nora yelled.

As I rocketed toward the mustelid matriarch, I heard Nora’s voice receding behind me as she added, “Good luck! Don’t splat!” Splat? I could splat? Why did she have to say that?! That would hurt! I stumbled at the thought of injury, my aura momentarily flickering.

The star kissed Azazel’s cheek, nibbling his ear as a final act. His eyes were enchanting, the ruby-red that changed to pink was mesmerizing, their lips were soft and warm, just like their skin and slim hands.
Oh… how much he wanted to spend rivers of money on that star. Buy it and own it, at least for a night.

“I know what you’re thinking,” the star said in a breathy tone. “But I can’t do it today. Come back another day,” the performer giggled, standing again, and bowing, as the stage lights came back to its usual hues.

Some typos here and there, but this is the general idea hehe~

“It’s not burned down. It’s okay.” I let myself hunch over, finding my breath and looking down at the quiet village for a moment, the sudden departure of all my excited tension making room for exhaustion to take my muscles. “Should we camp?”

“Where are they?” Sanya asked, eyes still trained down the hill.

I squinted, following his gaze. Down below, the streets were empty. The village was still. I turned to the terraces, but they, too, were quiet, the nearly mature plants rippling alone in the breeze. When the wind died down, and my own breathing quieted, a dull sound carried up from the valley. On the green, the temple cast a long shadow that occluded much of the common space, but there were skinny shades like needles moving at its periphery. “Something’s going on on the green."

I quickly explained, to the best of my ability, anyway, about the dark miasma that had surrounded her and how I had counteracted it.

“Rae. Demonstrate your attack on me,” Tetora ordered.

“You want me to punch you…?”

“Yes! With amity! See if you can punch out the poison!” I had never heard anything so ridiculous come out of his mouth before.

“But I don’t see any animus around you…”

“Punch me!” Tetora insisted.

Since no one moved to stop me, I repeated my earlier performance with a glowing fist, aiming for his upper arm instead of his abdominal wounds, but to no effect.

“That was not a punch,” Tetora grunted. “Harder!”

“The punch isn’t the point!” I had pushed my amity straight into him just like I had done with the Matriarch. No reaction, nothing!

“Just try again.” I switched sides, but again, nothing happened.

“You’re not doing it right. Do it again!”

Aleph finally stepped between us and put a hand on Tetora’s shoulder. “Could you tell me exactly why you are insisting on this idiocy?”

"why does no one listen to me-" Brooklyn wonders, being rudely inturrupted by her brother, Zach who barges in saying "Yo brook, Mom told me to tell you to tell the girls to clean their room."
Brooklyn sits there silently, days of frustrations' anger brewing in her, as she almost lets it explode.
Sitting in the same position, anger going away, being replaced with the loss of her colour, muttering "fine."
(its a comic so its kinda hard to write this lmao)
