I was offering some advice about art and one told me to open it up as a thread all it's own! So here it is!
Please share pictures of your gestures! I'd love to see what people come up with. Gestures, whether you're doing them or looking at them, are a great art exercise, tool and reference/resource.

SHARE YOUR GESTURESSSSS

  • What is a gesture?
The idea of the gesture is to draw the head, spine and the immediate body part that you think is important.
Only, super quickly - like 3 seconds, 10 seconds... There's long gestures and short gestures - the iconic ones are usually 3~10 seconds.

I have a Pinterest board with 150 different poses if anyone wants it

Those are sooooo pretty - I love the ballet; reminds me of ice skating a lot.
Also...

Summary

This totally looked like a butt to me for a solid minute

This is a great idea for a topic. I don't take a lot of time to practice this particular exercise. Maybe I will now.
BTW everyone has uploaded some great stuff so far!

It's all about not thinking and being fluid. I think? I know my art went from being chunky and blocky to a lot more fluid poses after I started doing these.

Fantastic- time to draw someone's demise through a musical instrument! I smell a new mystery novel in the making.

I just mentally replace them with drum sticks

I tried that once! I choked

Now I want a saxaphone that shoots deadly drum sticks like some sort of twists blow-gun!

I imagine the sax would operate like a cornicopia greek horn thing where you just aim it and the stuff would shoot out?
