So I guess I'll do this for both my series! From Fox Trap
"Whatever. Why are you in my tub?"
"I thought this setting and my female form might make you more comfortable. My male form seemed to make you uneasy," Ashe said, twirling a curl around her finger.
"Threatening people tend to make them uneasy. How are you even in that form?"
"You don't know? Foxes are excellent shapeshifters," She explained as a reddish fox tail rose from the bubbles.
Leo's rubbed his temple, "Of course you're a fox spirit. Why didn't I notice that before? I have a birthmark in the shape of a fox,” he grimaced. “Anything would have been better than a fox spirit."
"How rude!"
"No ruder than you breaking into my house and taking a bath."
"I didn't break in, I walked in," she glowered, her tail gently waving back and forth. Leo opened his mouth to speak but decided he didn't want to know how she got in without him knowing.
"Can you please get out of my tub and tell me why you're really here?" He asked, pulling a towel from the rack.
She stepped on to the bath mat, popping her hip to the side in a pose. Whatever remaining fear Leo had from the night before was now gone. Each drop of water he watched slide over the curves of her body, her warming smile, the bounce of her hair, made him seethe in the knowledge that his wish for a quiet life was slipping away with each interaction with this fox.
And from What Lies Within
“Rosie?!” Lucella exclaimed,
“Uh, Ro, currently,” he responded with a shrug and a smile.
“And I thought you were hot as a woman.”
Ro rolled his eyes at Jaspers thumbs up response.
“If it makes the situation better...look what I have.”
Lucella motioned towards the sleeping hedgehog in her arms, receiving a relieved smile from the men on the porch.
“Finally,” Ro said. “Oh, Jillian left this for you. She left not too long ago.”
He pulled a small envelope from his pocket, smudged with blood. There was nothing written in the front, on the back her name written in simple letters.
“Once again Vessel you've created work for me.”
She turned, recognizing the voice. The bird spirit sat on the railing at the other end of the porch, looking at the blood that was splattered across the window.
“Yeah, we made a hell of a mess in there,” Ro said unapologetically.
The bird sighed, “At least, thanks to your efforts, the rest of those humans fled last night after hearing that the Vessel of Kismet was here, but it seems that you weren't the one they need to worry about hm?”
The two men smiled proudly, “Lucella's not the only beautiful and dangerous one around here,” Ro winked.
“I also see you accomplished your task,” the bird said, nodding towards her arm. "Will you name it?”
She paused and smiled, “Buttons.”
“All that work for such an unimpressive name. Well now, as thankful as I am that you have eradicated this problem that has plagued many days for me, I must ask you to leave. Sooner rather than later. Before you draw attention to yourselves. However, my Master will not soon forget what you've done for her.”
The bird spirit bowed, Jasper and Ro groaned as they stood, and Lucella popped open her letter.
I don't know if I should love you or hate you for basically ruining my life but thank you. I hope that fate will bring us together again.
-Jillian
Lucella chuckled, amused that the newly freed woman was missing a critical piece of information but what she didn't know probably wouldn't hurt her. If it did, Lucella was sure that would taste good too.
