So, it's from my newest chapter to be released on Tuesday. I know you probably wanted a chapter one hook, but the whole of chapter one is my hook.

The sky was gone. Everything was still lit by the night of a midday sun, but where there should have been the blue of a Summertide sky there was only a yawning black void bereft of any form of detail or marking, so unlike the wheel of the heavens at night and more akin to a cellar when all lamps have been extinguished.
Not really one sentence, I know, but I really wanted to post that one passage

Contract-2 felt two additional hollow knocks echo inside his skull before a comforting blackness overcame him.
I want to take a shot at this!
His movements are chaotic and powerful, and his rage is visible in every violent motion.

In the hole, the body of a maid dissolved and decayed.

"-Let's take a walk. It's a beautiful night to die," she says with jolliness opening her black umbrella over both heads. He was much taller. She almost had to put herself on tiptoes to be sure not to hit him on the forehead. Although it might not be such a bad idea, she thinks in jest to herself. He was too much of an austere and discreet presence if not for the long black raincoat. Almost looked as he was ready for a funeral.
"-You know you can still change your mind."
"-That's why you came? To change my mind?"
"-No."
"-Why is it..., it's because these are really my last hours."; she concludes with a smile on his face.

She looks ahead to see a man, his face outlined with red light seeping from his glowing red demonic eyes.The king smirks “Well what do we have, here a shovel gang kid? No, oh, I see you’re a vailer!” He says with amusement.
Lexy despite the fear goes to one thing she can do “whoop I’m a Vailer what a big deal why don’t you just get out of my way. Your stupid nitwit.”
The king frowns “excuse me, you silly little girl.”
Lexy huffs “I am not little I am a young woman!”
This makes the man chuckle “same difference.”

10 years ago, gods descend on "Andromeda" this gods built their mountains and caves known as "shrines". Gods are spirits that leaves their "will", in their shrines are where their wills are located whoever finds a Gods' shrine shall inherit its power, however in every shrine a test awaits you. A test wether you are worthy of being the Gods' Will or not.
