Shorter vs Longer episodes

So, I know Tapas promotes short bytes of episodes instead of longer ones. However, I have seen some novels and comics with just one panel each episodes or a short paragraph each episodes in novels and I found them less intimidating than the longer ones.

So, what's your view on this? Which one do you find more effective? And why? Just a survey question.

I grew up reading manga on the internet so I prefer the longer episodes and create my comic the same way as well, tho my series is monthly

Yes. Same. I prefer longer episodes as well. However, I grew up reading hard copies of books when internet wasn’t a thing.

The more often you update, the more attention you get: subs, views, likes, comments. That's why posting short, 1-page comic episodes and splitting text chapters into small pieces is the only proper way to go here. Longer episodes leave you at a disadvantage.

I like to binge comics, so I prefer longer episodes. But, I understand a lot of creators prefer posting one page per episodes, since it gives creators more chance of exposure due to being in fresh page more. It doesn't really matter to me what kind of approach the creator does.

However, I don't like novels that only have, like, one or two paragraph each chapter. Unless it's the format of the story and has a purpose, it feels... kind of cheap to do something like that. I once stumbled across a novel where each episode is just like... five sentence at most. That's definitely not something I'd read. Something around 500 words is acceptable; chopping a 1.2k words chapter into two parts is acceptable; but to have less than 100 words for a novel chapter? Big nope.

As a writer I can understand the reason, but from reader POV, I am on the same boat as you. And, I had the similar experience as well. I stumbled upon some novels like that, and didn’t get enough will power to turn to next episode because the first episode didn’t make me enough invested. It’s not the writer's fault because I don't see how a 100 word or 50 words paragraph can make me invested in such a short period of time. Writer has to be a some sort of genius to execute that level of writing.

I like longer episodes better. To me, while reading shorter episodes, I feel as if there's a lot of things missing. It's not really as gripping and intriguing as longer episodes, in my point of view. Although I understand that some creators prefer publishing in shorter segments, I know that there's nothing really wrong with short episodes. Well, as long as it's not that short.

Generally speaking I prefer shorter episodes. I'm more attracted to art than story. Also I prefer reading stuff in hardcopy as opposed to online.

With that said, when the artist is doing something really creative with the panel presentation, I prefer longer episodes.

I prefer longer episodes, both to read and to make. My first comic here was a '1-page per week' type because it seemed like that's what everyone was doing so i just wanted to go with the flow lol.

But I always felt like page-a-week comics made for kind of an unsatisfying reading experience and, especially as a reader, i preferred episodes that were closer to, say, 3-5 pages. So, as a result, I decided to do my new comic with longer episodes (even though that means I have to upload less often and lose out on visibility. Oh well! xD)

Shorter episodes allow you to build an audience faster. If you need it, of course.
