If you ever wondered what happened to SmackJeeves it was bought out by a Japanese company and more or less became a mirror to the Japanese site Comico, although now named Pocket Comics. They’ve got a decent selection of Webtoons and recently they’ve launched a few US comics.
They’re app shows at the bottom that they’re open to submissions now, but I’m just not sure. Their US section seems so new, they don’t have a desktop site yet, and all of those US launches are currently on hiatus with no sign they’ll continue ( I’d heard it was a “test launch?”). Tapas and Webtoon have been around long enough that you can hear through the grapevine what they’re like to work with, but I’m just not sure about taking a chance on such a new platform ( despite their connections to an established platform in a different country.) Thoughts? Things I should look out for?
