Sketchy Private Message- Thoughts?

I got this private message and it's setting off some major red flags.

The first red flag was that username. This is obviously a throw-away account.

The second red flag was how vague they were about the story in question. They didn't give me any details about what they supposedly liked. Heck, they didn't even specify which story they "read".

Third, were the minor grammar errors. I'm not perfect either, but if I was going to write a business proposal I would freaking quadruple check that shit. This tells me it's a bit hastily thrown together.

I checked out their platform. It's an android-only app with about 10k downloads.

My guess is that they saw my subscriber count or the views I have on my main series and sent me a pre-written message and just filled in the blank with my name.

If there are any other people who've had this happen to them let me know!

9 times out of 10 if they're coming to you and asking you to post your book on another site, they're a scammer. I get the same generic message repeatedly on Wattpad with a poacher trying to get me to sign the lifetime rights of my books over to them. Yeah, no. I may not have the highest confidence in my writing but I'm sure as hell not giving away the lifetime rights of my books for the pennies they offer.

Poachers like this try to prey on the people who don't know any better. They see someone offering money for their work and they get stars in their eyes and sign on the dotted line without thinking. That's how these guys get their victims. You were wise to ask about it before getting suckered in.
