heard its a violation to have multiple accounts.... ok imma get this straight right now... I do not care about ink. the ink system is busted and i could find better ways to make money than waste my time farming currency thats worth less than pennies.

MY reason to be mad about the "not allowed to have more than one account" thing is because. well having multiple creators on a project are only for the premium creators which i still find completely asinine that is literally a feature for everybody on other platforms. but not tapas.... nope... never tapas... if this feature was available for everyone, i wouldn't have to consider making a collab account for certain projects.

i know none of the site's admins will see this cause they are all hiding in the toxic cesspool that is the tapas discord.

this site is making it harder and harder each day to appreciate being on the platform, dont get me started on the major dashboard glitches i found while uploading my newest page on the 1st.

but yeah... this. heres the question. is it still a violation when the sole purpose is to be a collab account with certain projects? cause if it is?... well there goes 2 projects off Tapas' black void of a free to read catalogue.

Agree, I always thought that was completely dumb but it's quite common everywhere, I literally don't know where you can have more than one creator other than maybe ao3? But then also not having multiple accounts is pretty much a nail in the coffin. Also the ink farming thing, I don't think they're doing it manually, it's often bot farming.

But like come on, for collaboration it should be a feature, especially if it is already working for the premium creators because it means that the feature likely already won't completely break Tapas. You figured it out for them without breaking your site, it should be available to the rest of us plebs too. Still have literally no idea why they don't allow it, and when I collaborate we often have to decide whose account does what. I had an old account but that was only for reading.

nah, the reason they wont give us the feature, and this is what a premium creator said once. We don't Deserve it cause we didn't give up half the ownership of our stories i think... but another site that has the feature is Global Comix. and it's free to use for everyone.

only issue is that Global Comix is kinda hard to navigate and people find the interactive panelling system offputting. thats because it's catering to creators first and not readers.

Agree on this point.
Sometimes, we do need to give that important authorship recognition to those who collaborate.
Like if the work is done by 3 person, 3 accounts should be recognised as the rightful author on the system itself.
Now what majority does is simply mention about the other author that does not hold the account that posted the work. It makes them feel less important and less recognised. Which is bad.

I think you must strictly say "its a violation for ONE person to have multiple accounts"
I fully support that to be frank. You cannot have person A to have more than one account for that.
They make multiple accounts not just for the sake of inks, also for fake fans, and try to create a false environment to trick others. It normally works badly since that person will soon be exhausted from acting like multiple people.

Besides, I'm only one person with one same account using one same username. :sunglasses:

my one issue with the rule of a single individual not being able to have multiple accounts is what if someone wishes to have one strictly for reading and another for the content they post. it's a thing people do on other sites like twitter or tumblr (tho at the least tumblr lets you make multiple pages on one profile) so if it's for something as innocuous as that i don't think there should be any harm.

anyone going to the trouble of making a bunch of accounts for ink mining or number inflation will obviously lose integrity but as mentioned above i feel like its done way more often with bots than manually

i really do think tapas could stand to implement what premium creators have more widely but given its just one among a bunch of features we've been begging for for a while i'm...not that confident anything will come especially not anytime soon

THIS!!!!!
Unless you use (i'll be honest, i have no idea how that works) third party sites to boost your stats, one "fake" acc won't put your work from few views to few million views, and making 10+ accounts to boost yourself is just waste of a time, as you said, bots do that.

A lot of people don't want to mix their reading list with their work (i don't mind it, but i'm sure people do)

Smackjeeves had a multiple creator feature at one point. It also allowed users to transfer series to new accounts (and better usernames) if needed.

It was originally designed that there was a “head” creator who hosted the comic and a “sub” creator who had less access to features (like HTML edits) but could upload. I remember some series having a bunch of subcreators for big collabs.

It’s weird that SJ was doing this 10+ years ago but for some reason webcomic sites of today aren’t. Maybe it’s the way hosting works on these newer sites.

thanks for reminding me, Even Comicfury, another site thats been around for a while has the multi-creators function

I don't know how this misunderstanding was made, but here is me clearing it up:

Tapas recognizes that users may have several accounts for different comics or for reading purposes.

The issue stems from users using their several accounts to get ink. That is easy enough to traced, and yes -- that has been a something that's happened for a while. Doesn't matter how much they were getting, users still attempted to do so -- hence the added warning in the site rules.

It's not against rules to have several accounts -- it's against rules to use those accounts to have an unfair advantage in earning ink.

If you're not doing that, you're good.

Simple as that.

There's probably a reasonable limit on how many accounts you can have under your name, but having additional accounts for a shared comic or different comics is not an automatic strike. If you have one account for reading and one account for creating, that is not an automatic strike.

I repeat:

You can have several accounts. Just don't try to use them to farm ink.

Edit: This also includes trying to boost up your series. Yes -- it sounds ridiculous, but users have attempted to do this. It's also quite common on other sites such as Webtoons, Dillyhub, and etc. So the added rules are mostly for those users.

Otherwise, you can have multiple accounts.

omg thank you. cause well, i was getting both angry and really scared about it. like legit. someone told me about it and i took it as "you are gonna get in trouble either way."

but still, they should really consider giving the little guys the multi-creator function so we don't have to make these other accounts...

okay this makes more sense, thank you for letting us know, i was wondering how will tapas know if someone made two accs without checking their IP (but doing that to every single user is super super hard)
