If it's a "post your story under ### subs!" and the thread is several thousand long I don't feel compelled to click it since that sheer number of posts tells me the thread is old, and likely the newest posts don't get lots of views. I may be wrong, but that is certainly my impression.

The "post your latest page august edition" is kinda....meh? It's made for comics. I might skim it, but there's no reason for me to post in it, since I have a novel. So a thread for novels to post their update specifically FOR NOVELS would be preferred. (The prime reason why I started a "post the last sentence you wrote" thread - it can be for novels or comics, and out of context sentences are always funny)

literally what i was refering to when i mentioned the thread with 1000 replies

That's exactly my point. Like...maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but a lot of these "Post your comic under/above # subs" aren't really engaging as ones that do "Post your comic But you have to ___" You're just posting your work and going about your business, and then of course it piles up. Which again -- goes back to me saying "this thread didn't really help anyone. It just buried people" At least with the latter, you're adding something new to the table to start a convo.

I dunno, comics or novels, I kinda rarely post in the updated page thing now -- it just doesn't feel engaging. People post their stuff, and they go. At least with the "Post your latest drawings", you get people stopping to look at other works and comment. It's like a gallery.

But overall, as my preference, I just don't like things to be clogged up. Like, if I see several threads with the same topic in a row that's burying everything else -- yeah, I'm gonna get a bit annoyed. Like "I get it, you're joking about the number of threads that do the sub count thing. I don't need 12 threads to get it".

guess that's my idea for "post pics of rude veg that Apple will hate thread" out of the window.

that was my fault. I did last months thread on posting your latest update and i should have just handed it off to one person but i left it open for anyone to take up the mantel and several people did . we have to consider time frame here after all the months end at different times in different places .

that was a stupid one, so Rodimus13 (the wife of the duo) actually was the first to make the thread for august, then someone made one after her, the mods did not shut down the newer one.... they shut down hers... made no sense at all

Tapas: Let's purge the single novel sharing joke thread that people seemed to genuinely like because it's an opposite counter part to a comic joke thread that didn't include novels. Can't have similar topics choking up the threads, now can we?

Also Tapas:

yeah, i rather have the joke threads than have someone necro all those, those threads are so common and kinda cookie cutter that the unique ones get people that dont even bother doing the unique thing

I see you complaining all the time about Tapas and the forums. Have to honestly ask, why do you still visit here? Seems like you aren't really enjoying it so I don't understand why you would continue to come to a place that causes annoyance for you.

This probably isn't aimed at me... But it frequently applies.

You can be a part of something that you're not 100% behind because you hope for change...and things, like sites and forums, will never change inside a digital echo chamber.

There HAS to be voices of discontent in imperfect systems.

there is a huge difference of constructive criticism and direct hostility.

The difference is that constructive criticism has a proposal to improvement and/or asking for the reason a thing is done a certain way while hostility is just plain complaining without adding anything to help.

I think @BobbyjoeXforgotensb is aiming for the former. Disagreements are not a bad thing, but how these are handled makes a huge difference on society`s problem solving skills.

imagine if countries or society as a whole functioned like this, we'd still be living in the stone age

How do you figure?

The history of social change in the world starts with dissident voices making people aware of problems that lie outside the "norm".

Technology is advanced by those who seek better ways and systems.

The arts have always been reactionary to those embracing a status quo.

Direct hostility has it's place as well.

I'm sure some people forget but the recent TOS issue was only addressed BECAUSE of the vocal outrage and action it created in many influential creators.

No, it was aimed at the creator of the thread, @BobbyjoeXforgotensb.

Though I believe when I first saw some of your posts I was like "Wow, this guy is a dick" lol But I think that was only a very few posts a while ago since I haven't really seen that recently.

gees man, if you gotta be so perfectionist about it

imagine if countries or society as a whole functioned like this, we'd still be living in the dark ages

You're not reading ALL the threads then.

Having an opinion or POV that differs from others often inspires name calling. I really don't sweat it.

I don't think the idea that ANYBODY should be made to feel like they should agree/be happy just to come to a community forum.

You think the Renaissance is a period defined by not embracing changes?

I think it’s fair to say the forums has a bit of a “fun police” issue, tho it may not be articulately said.

no i don't because the reality is that countries and society as a whole dont actually work like that, and if they did, there would never have been social evolution to make society better.

But if you're going to be so picky, just look at US history ffs. We went from brutal slavery to gay rights movements because of things like protesting and complaining (although slavery took a whole war to get rid of, but that war would've never happened if there was no complaint).

I really dont have the energy to argue about this rn any further so dont expect any more responses from me about this
