My story is episodic and I do the same methods that I commented, I just modify them to fit me. I say you can plan an episode out with quick bullet points with everything you can possibly include, and then trim from there. If you already have the rough draft/concepts for episodes written, just go over it and keep revising.
I also do an exercise where I try to summarize my series/episode as if I were explaining it to a friend. I usually hit all the important stuff and leave out the unimportant stuff. Then when I create, I have an outline of everything I need to touch on. I then let the characters go in the situations I planned, and it usually comes naturally.
If you think about it in that frame, think about if you were to explain an arc for something like Dragon Ball Z or One Piece to a friend. You wouldn't go over all the screaming and the multiple episodes to cover one battle. You'd explain what was necessary. Focus on the main things your story must say and fill in the blanks.
Just try to think about what you really want to convey to your audience, and try to stick to that. Or even analyze the stories you like. How do they go about their story, what do you like about them? Try to emulate their format and it can also help cut down things.
However, like I said, there's no right answer. Do what feels right to you and if you're creating, that's all that matters
