Something you should be good at, but aren't

I'm just trying to draw my comic, and I keep having to draw microphones. Y'know, cuz my comic's about MUSIC.
Here's the thing, I suck I drawing microphones. I'm so hopeless, references can't save me. I really need a nice microphone practice session. Should've thought to do that, before I started my comic, or really anytime before now (46 pages in!!!).

Look at my cover image. You might not notice it at first, but once you look closer, microphone looks completely wonky. That's really not what a microphone's supposed to look like. Or maybe that's how microphones look in this fictional world?

Who else wants to join me and put themselves on blast? What's something you should probably be good at it, but totally aren't?

Dynamic gestures. My poses seem to always feel flat, and when it's not, it's unintentional. I was planning on taking a break from my webcom after the first chapter to study and practice before the next chapter

Shading and lighting and stuff but no. Everything I draw would look really weird with it in my style.

This! 10 years into drawing and I still can't get anyone's eyes consistently right at all Much less the face in general, though, the eyes are definitely my biggest problem.

Shading and lighting still needs to vastly improve, too ️

Well, I'm making my first ever Comic and have been drawing for years, but only practicing anatomy,hand and perspective now, so it kills me every panel

You just have to make the microphone body longer and thinner + make it black and it´s a perfect
microphone. There is no reason why you shouldn´t be able to draw a microphone with your drawing
skills. The one that you drew would also go through as a microphone because people would see
it in context.

Fun fact about microphones - there's this multimedia franchise called Hypnosis Microphone which as you can guess from the title, would feature microphones quite heavily. It has some ongoing mangas (this series has fuck ton of characters, so instead of trying to handle them all at once, each manga focuses on smaller group of characters) and artist behind one of them either also struggled drawing microphones or couldn't be bothered to draw them more than once since all the panels with microphones would feature the same, copy pasted and scaled microphone (I wouldn't be surprised if it actually came from clips studio assets 'xD)

Just like you, I have a hard time drawing objects and backgrounds. That's why I tend to use a lot of assets or Google image and just trace it. It helps a lot actually

Drawing my MC. I draw him the most! It should be easy! But no. Faces are really hard.

Also static poses. Dynamic poses and movements are absolutely fine, but standing still or sitting down? Terrible.

I have a character later on whose entire gimmick is animal forms, so I should probably uh. Learn how to actually draw animals well??

A more generic one is crossed arms. Despite drawing characters with crossed arms all the time, I still mess it up sometimes and I'm not sure why, lol.

The backgrounds!!! >< I'm terrible, I only know how to draw people and some animals. Buildings are my headache, I know there are tools on the internet that help me with that work, but I have tried. They are not the most perfect structures I would like to see, as I have them in my head, but well...
