I really want to know the context and scope of classic love you mentioned, but for now, I'll comment according to the panels you posted.

If it's a classic love drama like what you shown in the panels, and synopsis of your story, no. It is not out of date, at least in my country (Indonesia). I tried to release my novel in Indonesian online platform and all I see is classic love drama novels, and the one with high school love vibes fills a lot the list.

International platforms have broader genre, maybe this is why you asked this. More people adding spices (psychological issues, more adult stories, etc). More genre also present and have prospect, like how my fantasy series has a lot of reader here but almost none in local online platform of mine so far.

If the scope is comic, also not in my country. Webtoons about school life (including love life), daily life of adults, are those which gets famous because they are relatable.

Oh thank you for your answer. Maybe I was in the down mood in my lonely trying progress.... Actually, I see the boy love and girl love genre are really grow up in my country ( Vietnam ), and in the other platforms on the world ( no offense ). And the love between boy and girl, without hot or sexy scene like my comic, is no longer popular with young people. But I hope that I will get the chance, one day, even if a smallest. I agree with the development. Yes, a lot of love stories has sexy, hot, juicy scenes, with BL and GL growing so fast. I am enjoyer whichever love, but I agree --the classic one, with maybe a simple sweet kiss is the most is very rare now. Maybe it's because of social development, how those are no longer seen as very taboo in Asian countries now, especially for younger generation. To be honest, not all story need those scenes and I kinda miss the pure love stories where the emotions are the main focus.

Don't give up. You're not alone, at least you have me . I do have a romance story draft without those sexy scene, and my current series has a hint of romance of the characters without those scenes because they are not needed. And yes, they are classic love between man and woman.

It may be more difficult as the genre is no longer in trend internationally, but I don't waver to trend. I'm glad to find another one who writes the classic one too! Good luck for your writing journey, I believe there's always a place for every kind of things, including the 'seems' unpopular ones. Trends sometimes just circling around.

The perspective in different aspects of love will never go out of date because everything is unique in one way or the other. Some people like poetic writing just like yours and other like cheesy romance like in ecchi animes, but if I may give my true opinion, it is not out of date.

I agree with you about this.

For me, I grow up with classic love stories, either comics (mostly japanese manga and some manhwa), novels, tv series, etc. They were so many back then. Maybe this is the reason the trend shifts, because many authors want to be 'different', up to the point the classic one becomes rare.

The trend circling, maybe one day the classic will become the trend again because people get too used with the current non-classic.

You're seeing more queer and gay romance because queerfolk and gays now have the freedom to make those stories and the platforms to share it on. The "classic" stuff is still there in abundance.

I don't think so, though it depends on what you consider classic. Lot's of people are still writing sweet and simple girl-meets-boy type romances and such. While maybe romance as the whole plot has been done so many times it can't carry the story anymore, ideas like chivalry and prince charming's still seem to be very much idealized and placed in popular fiction. K-dramas i've watched and animes still love the idea of men who go to extreme lengths for their lady's comfort, who will carry them home when they're tired, xyz. Because it's impossible to create entirely new things everything moves in waves and ideas come and go in trends.

When I think of "Ore Monegatari" Prince Charming vibes are very clear there. My two romances "Damsel in the Red Dress" and "Hushabye Prince" both have hints of these ideas, because many girls still want to imagine themselves as princesses, and that's what fiction is for.

I feel like in modern times, people have been more critical of romance based on infatuation. And I think people want some depth to the characters beyond "they are pretty".
