[WARNING, RANT] I see alot of threads come up in 'new' or 'lastest'... but when i click on them, they are from literal years ago and when you scroll up to the most recent posts, there is ZERO engagement. Im saying this for all our sakes, stop posting there. Nobody is checking them (at least to my knowledge), and it's just making dead threads not die.

...if i am wrong, please tell me tho, im new to the forums, and this was just one thing that caught my attention.

[except for the sketch a day thread, that one seems to be active]

Often these threads are resurrected by spammers posting links to outside services. Other times it's overly enthusiastic newcomers just looking for threads to promo their work, even if the thread is long dead. Best just to flag it and let us mods close them when we log on.

Hm, personally I don't see the issue with resurrecting dead threads. I sometimes use the search function to look for topics I'm interested in and comment on a thread without paying attention to how old it is. I feel like it's wasteful to make a new thread and lose all the progress on that discussion. But thread necromancy is technically against the rules so I'll play along, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To explain a little bit: We want to keep threads as fresh as possible due to how fast the internet moves. A lot of older threads have outdated information or promote series that are no longer updated or even located on the site anymore. Many users of the older threads have moved on as well, so it would be pointless if a new post tagged an older user in a reply and such.

Gotcha. I guess you do tend to find a lot of dead links in old threads. As long as they just get locked and not deleted, I think that's reasonable :]

Ugh, those spam accounts.

I’ve noticed that they’ve started leaving seemingly normal comments now, but go back and edit them a day or so later to change them into a spammy add/link.

i hate it as well, i would see something with interesting question, and i see that someone left comment like few hours ago, so i click to help op, i start typing answer, then i notice that comment before most recent one was in like 2018.

And usually it isn't someone randomly finding that thread, it's someone promoting, 8/10 times i see links in "answer".... for example someone would ask "what is the best way to do (blank)" and answer would be just link to something, but i did notice that staff almost always closes topic when that happens

Oh my passive aggressive nature so wants to set a reminder to revive this post in about a year...
