Y'all! With the announcement that you can now look up Vella serials on through the regular Amazon marketplace - people are coming out in droves to promote their "masterpieces". Any day now they are going to start read 4 reads. I can almost guarantee this is going to happen.

someone jumped on the promo videos launch. so far it's their artwork with wavy lines behind it and that's all. In the meantime... my artist dropped my new art of me today (that still needs polishing but I'm going to put it up anyway BECAUSE I LOVE IT.

Oh, the panic before the launch it palpable. People are making all kinds of "promo" pages to send out to.,... other writers.

I thought, I could be wrong, the idea of vella was to get lots of reader-readers, not other writers...

They're not too bad, not as bad as kdpcommunity itself. I'm sure FB is a horrorshow. But I don't want to look.

Out of curiosity, how many episodes did you publish already? I'm unsure if I should do a small batch or do more. In case of bingers, that is.

My Bright Morn serial has vol. 1 and vol. 2 finished so I put them up for binging. Then I put up the new vol. 3 which is 111 chapters (episodes??? everyone seems to have a different name).and scheduling that. They'll probably be able to read the first 15 chapteers but it runs daily until Oct. 17

And I also put up my short: Dead Souls Doing the Samba which is complete at 24 chapters.

Bright Morn is Wuxia style so I'm looking down the barrel at the very least of 1k chapters. Who knows, i'm a pantser so it could go more.

FB is panic city

I haven't looked at the KP community pages... too afraid

That's awesome! I wish I had more chapters. I would have done 100 if I could.

1k isn't too bad, especially compared to the 3k+ that's out there. I think I'm aiming for 500ish / 1 mil words.

I keep looking at all the different areas, reddit, kindle, fb, whatever, and sooooo many people talking about book book book, pulling it and making a book

so I'm wondering: Are any of these people actually, really truly, honestly, interested in writing a serial?

I think they just don't understand the monetization of it. If they did, they would probably change up their strategy. Eventually, they'll see the successful novels and emulate what those authors are doing. At least, one would hope.

But by the time they figure it out, the best novels will already be entrenched at the top.

Fingers crossed it's ours that are up there.
