Struggling to get subscribers

My subscriber count is barely moving now on Webtoons and now even on Tapas. This is so discouraging

Any tips and tricks for a struggling comic artist

I'd just recommend being active here in the forums! A lot of people are here looking for stuff to read, and you could even ask for criticism or reviews if you want to improve.
Building that rapport is a really good idea, and will let people know who you are.
If you don't get out there and talk to people they might not get to read your stuff, and it might be right up their alley!

Ill give that a go! Webtoons doesnt really have a community so I love the forums on here and have gotten some knowledge

I noticed you only just started your comic, and you only have three episodes. Unless you're starting off with a huge bang it's going to be a bit of a waiting game. Patience is a virtue as they say . My biggest tip that I wish I was told when I first started is to not focus on numbers and just enjoy what you make. Take the time to research other comics and see what makes them work and utilize it to your own. I wish you the best of luck.

@KoreanTacos Seeing those numbers drive me crazy lol. Also discouraging when you see someone with one episode doing numbers. I have to make myself blind to it

I know the feeling. I have posted my comic on webtoons and only had 16 subscribers, while I look at other comics and they have 6k. I just kinda feel like I'm no good. I started posting on Tapas but got pregnant soon after and had to go on hiatus.
I'm just scared I have failed in comics....

@kaylagethers Thats how I feel sometimes but life happens and sometimes for the better! Are you planning to start back? I think just getting what you can out doesnt hurt

If you're just posting in hopes that you'll get a lot of followers for your work, you're just gonna discourage yourself and burn yourself out. I know it's hard, but there's a point at which you've gotta ignore your sub count, knuckle down and just make the comic you want to see exist.

It's really easy for people to see no immediate reward for their effort and just quit, or jump to another project. But if you keep jumping around, looking for instant success anywhere, you're never going to find actual success.

@juyunseen not entirely success but I feel like Im producing my comic to an empty room. Its great and happy that I am getting this accomplished yet no one is really seeing it.

I actually started back up today. I had some pages stacked up and just posted them on Tapas today while we have no work at the daytime job. I know I probably bothered some subscribers, but I had free time. I want my story to be told because I think it's good... but I feel as if no one else sees that. I also had a build up to try and get to the point, and I feel like maybe I lost some people because of that... or something else... I don't know. It's hard to feel motivated to post when you don't even get a comment that says, oh, this is interesting or anything... if that makes sense.

Honestly just be more active within groups, the forums here or on other sites. Draw people to your work and use other sites like Twitter or maybe use YouTube or similar sites, just be active and you'll be sure to draw in some kind of crowd eventually. It's going to take time and work, but as long as your willing to put in the work everything should work out in time.

If you really want something that all artists/writers are flat out going to have to face. Ask people for critique and actually reflect on them instead of fighting against them. If you're only doing this for you then don't worry about this advice, but in order to reach a broader audience it's going to take a lot of effort and knowing that there are some things you fail at. Failures remain failures if you don't try to improve on them, like I said before it's a patience game. Even the people who get featured right away have probably done their fair share of research and learned how to make their comics appealing. There was one person awhile ago who asked for a critique and I remember flat out telling them "Hey, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine." Person ended up on daily snack and still creates a kick-ass comic.

If you're up for it I don't mind reading through your comics and critiquing it, hell I'm only working on buffers (I'll PM you if you're worried I about others reading it), but that's totally up to you. I'm only trying to help you. There's posts like these all the time (I mean heck I've written one of these too that I'm embarrassed that exists). I'm not a fan of people stressing out over numbers when they should just be having fun doing what they do.

I didn't gain any followers for at least a month. I grew concerned like you. But, I realized once I started interacting with my readers more, I gained more followers. I even through 2 contests one for fanart and one a prize for commenting and it got even better! Just stay active and don't lose hope!
