Are you allowed to have monetization if it's fanfiction? Or is it the same as selling it for money?

Just talk to other creators on the forums, interact with posts outside of self promotion, etc.

Whatever, I'll do it. Getting subs isn't as easy as talking to other creators. Many see it as an intrusion, and don't want a purely business relationship. Keep doing self promotion if you want, but keep in mind that updating frequently is often the best way to get subs.

Here you go! Good luck!

I actually had no idea you came from this and cluelessly commented on your wall. I feel dumb now.

Try to update daily for a while. Then, 2-3 times a week is good.

I’d say 3x a week as well. You’ll stay pretty high up on fresh and if more people are liking, commenting more frequently you’ll get up there on trending. I update 3-4 times a week, depending how the days fall. Interacting with other creators in the forums and under their stories is a good way to up your subs. I read and comment frequently on the stories I’m caught up on and some of their readers have checked out my story and subbed.

Being interactive in the forums is helpful too. Even if it’s not a topic where you share, someone can still check your story out if you have your link in your bio

Cut it short. A lot of popular stories have a chapter of 500-800 words

The longer your chapters are, the more difficult for you to keep up and the higher the chances of readers facing 'reader burnout'.

The storytelling format I use doesn't allow that. I used to write chapters with that number count and it was pretty bad.

I update every other day. I write out the entire chapter which can be from 4-6.5k then I break them down. I get a good amount of updates. My story will be a bit long and I stay 2-3 chapters ahead so it works for me. I didn’t want my story to drag out and have people wait a week for an update

I update daily, only skipping Sundays. My novel started on August 4th and will finish by mid-October.

It helps me with Fresh and Popular, but doesn’t get me on Trending.

Seriously, one of the best things you can do to improve your performance is to divide your chapters into parts so they are easy to check out every day.

I updated almost daily for my first 45 chapters. I've just recently switched a 3 days a week upload schedule!

Your story is not different from any other story. What you have is not a novel, it is a script, maybe light novel without illustrations. It is just as easy to break into shorter chapters as any other story, maybe easier, because it's all an endless dialogue stream not an actual scene with backdrop and flow. Simply number every part of each chapter for on-line consumption. It's simple, and it helps you.

No problem! I don't mind at all. For the first month, your best bet is to update twice a week: either Thursday night and Friday to get the new author/casual reader crowd, or Friday and Saturday for a shot at the main crowd. Then, back to once a week.
But that's just a recommendation. If you think it's going to burn you out, or if it will affect the quality of your work, then you should work around a schedule that's best for you.
