Hello, i was wondering if creators could submit their works to multiple sites, such as tapas, line, lezhin etc. at the same time?

Are there any stipulations or regulationsagainst this? For example shonen jump does not want people submitting works that have already been published on other commercial sites, are there rules like these at line, tapas, lezhin etc.?

Yes, as long as there's no contract involved (as such with featured Line Webtoon series), many comic creators use multiple mirror sites to gain traction for their work and bolster their reading base.

So unless you are approached by a site's representative(s) and work out a formal agreement for exclusivity, you should be free to submit your work across tapas, line, smackjeeves, etc.

what @phenylketonurics said. Unless the company specifically has you sign a contract you can post your work almost everywhere.

I have my comic here on tapas and mirrored on smackjeeves. I've never had a problem and it helps me find readers in different areas.

I have a query regarding to this as well - Do creators tend to upload their comics/ content verbatim on the various online channels/ social media?

I Think it's okay as long you're not in contract that state you can't post it anywhere. Better check and read the terms for every site that you will post.

I guess another word would be 'mirroring'.
It is advantageous to post exactly the same comic strip (not a continuous story, like one strip is a full comic), to every social media/ website that one has?

Not to every social media sight. Social media should be used as a promotional tool where you drop an image and a link.

As for comic hosting sites it is advantageous to post to at least two, until one offers you an exclusive deal.

Oh, gotcha. I think it's best to hit 2-3 comic platforms if you can, but be careful not to overwhelm yourself. Having the option to schedule updates is a blessing, too, so you don't have to always remember to post things. Then you can just share those links on social media.

I think it really depends on where YOU like to spend the most time and where you want to cultivate an audience. Some are better geared towards it than others. And if you're just not jiving with a site, don't feel like you HAVE to be there. e.g. A lot of artists are on Instagram, but I don't bother with it because I'm at my limit of managing social media and I don't ever use it.

My comic is on Tapas and Webtoons right now. There's going to be a new site popping up soon I hear, hosted by the people who made Topwebcomics, so I might start posting there as well when that rolls out. But that'll be my limit, I don't want to be stretched too thin!

Thank you for your input!

I especially agree with the sediments of "spreading yourself too thin".
I have a few platforms:

  • Main site/ Tumblr - I previously tried Wordpress but it feels this is friendlier to virtual contents?
  • Facebook - (at the request of a few of my friends as they aren't familiar with others). I post a day or two after the main site. I encourage people to follow the main site if they like it early!
  • Twitter - Extra stuff like hashtag drawing prompts/ sketches/ non polished works
  • Instagram - side project
  • Tapas - I have stopped uploading and felt I needed to understand more before I keep at it
  • Webtoon - signed up and exploring.
  • Topwebcomics - really?! that sounds good!

Have some things scheduled with Buffer or IFTTT - I can't imagine how busy it must be for a creator who also has Pinterest/ DeviantArt/ Pateron etc.

I also try submitting on things like BoredPanda etc - just giving it a go?

Currently I post on ComicFury and Tapastic. I used to do Deviantart (and was actually the first place I uploaded, I think), but I didn't feel like it works so I've stopped. You can test out a few places and eventually figure out what seems to work best. If you follow comics similar to yours and see where they seem to gain the most traction, that definitely helps in deciding.

As for uploads, I have a once a week schedule for CF and Tapas, but one's every Sunday and the other's every Wednesday. I just find it eases my mind when I'm rushing to upload in one but can take my time scheduling for the other.
