well, I can't say much about if it's pandering or if they're just assholes, though the criticism of pandering and defense of it can be a tricky one, to say the least. An example could be twilight who everybody and their mothers said they were pandering to women and that the romance was awful but the readers were saying it wasn't and that the ´people criticizing them were just jealous or illiterate. And anime as the most recent victim, where they are saying it panders to men and objectifies women while the fans say the other side is being puritanic and unfair.
Also, how can you be sure it's not pandering or is pandering?
like how you said that because your bi you don't see a problem with a character one-minute liking chicks and then out of nowhere they like guys. You don't see a problem but many do, they say it is pandering because it came out of nowhere but you say it's not because you feel it's fine and it happens to bi. You exist there for a character can out of nowhere change to liking the same sex with no set up cause they are simply bi like you.
who is right? who is wrong? is it pandering or are they just bigots?
I guess I'm just asking cause I feel many defenders, not saying you but many, defend the introduction of LGBTQ characters just for the sake of having them, writing be damned.
and vice versa, of course, idiots who hate a good character just because they are gay are everywhere, and I don't feel the need to state how much I don't care for them.
