Kaeru turns to face a man in a black cloak, pinned to the wall by a shortsword through his shoulder.
“Let’s see who wants me dead this week, shall we?”

"Assassins? From where? Did one of your enemies somehow track you to this world? Or did you tick off the wrong guy here?" Flare asked, relaxing his stance slightly.

“You’ll get nothing out of me. The Shadows rule the underground, and soon they’ll rule the rest of the world as well.” The man spits in Common.

“Oh, so you are one of those types.” Kaeru stows his gun and moves to slit the man’s throat, but he sinks into the shadow on the wall and vanishes.

“Not particularly. A loyalist assassin had a getaway plan.” Kaeru puts away his knife, “Unsurprising, if annoying.”

Tara huffed and crossed her arms "Aw man. I wanted to slap that guy around a little."

“It would appear so, but given their relative skill... you should be fine.” Kaeru cracks his neck, “Just don’t do anything stupid.”

Kaeru turns the corpse of one of the assassins over with his foot. There are five bodies in total, one of them has their head cleanly cut off.

“Wherever the hell you want.” Kaeru shrugs, “I was targeted by a group of assassins. That is not your problem.”
