Tapas app gone from iOS App Store?

I was going to update my Tapas app on my iPhone, but then it said, "This item is no longer available." I searched for "Tapas" and "Tapastic" and nothing comes up on the App Store. Anyone else experiencing this?

This was mentioned a while ago, but Apple removed the app due to issues they had with Tapas content. The staff are currently working on getting this fixed, but there is no telling how long it will take.

I recently switched from an android to a iPhone and went to find it on the app store, even after going past all of the cooking apps. I tried to go through google but it said that "This app is currently not available in your country or region". I live in Texas and I saw it in the app store last week. Please help!

I wonder how this App Store ban will affect content on Tapas. It seems like it was taken down from the App Store the same day the 3rd Writer’s Camp results were announced

Ah yes, just like Tumblr. I was wondering when Tapas was going to get hit with this as well.

It’s likely the result of the FOSTA-SESTA thing. If it’s too sexy, you get shut down. Unless Tapas does a damn good job convincing them, odds are they won’t be allowed back on the App Store unless they remove the mature content. Which is funny cuz it’s not like Tapas allows straight up pornographic content to begin with.

I just hope Tapas won’t kowtow to Apple like Tumblr did.

God I really hate this anti-sex(y) BS. I can get not wanting explicit content and having apps specifically for that purpose - like so many dating and hook up apps - but removing apps that feature more mature content amongst more general content? And the mature content isn’t even explicit? Removing it from the App Store is ridiculous.

Apple is pushing me into the arms of Android between this BS and Apple’s terrible updates and poor battery life. Of course Android doesn’t exactly allow this content either but I can get an Android app off the developers website, thus allowing me to enjoy sexier content, unlike with Apple which only lets you get stuff from their store. And charges you more for in-app purchases. And doesn’t let you customize much of anything.

I’d hate to remove my comic from Tapas since I love how they have a good method for supporting creators with the Support system - but if I can’t show a tiddy, I’m out. If they have to restrict mature content from their iOS app - fine - so long as it isn’t site wide thing and people can still upload mature content, just those poor saps using the iOS app won’t be able to see it.

I don't use the app all that often - I'm a laptop person still.
But I can see how this would be frustrating all round.
Let's hope it gets sorted (and I agree - I hope it doesn't go down the Tumblr hole - that is / was a disaster)

well for a lot of people, like myself, could only get ink earning ads on the apps so it is frustrating

as for what i said, i highly doubt Tapas would bend over backwards and do that, they have a little more brains in their heads unlike the people that run tumblr and can find other ways to get back on

I wish I could get ink from ads but alas not in Australia. I have to buy my ink when I want to give it out.
Maybe if I could I would be more inclined to use the app.

I do hope Tapas don't succumb to the corporate bullies. Let us enjoy our lives (and our comics and stories) in peace.

The iOS ecosystem is huge and studies have shown that iOS users tend to spend more on in-app purchases than Android users. I think Tapas financially can't afford not to be on the App Store. Webtoons has purged "sexy" content from its app. Maybe Tapas will have to do the same so that the company can survive to fight other battles.

it'll affect the main site too if they purge the app cause to purge the app you have to purge the site

Ironically, when I searched "Tapastic" on the App Store, the #1 result is Webtoons. What I'm saying is that Tapas will lose eyeballs to competitors if they aren't on the App Store and that is deadly

I see. I thought maybe they could add an algorithm or something to stop them from being seen on the app.

Keep in mind Tumblr got into trouble because it had child pornography specifically. Tumblr when to the extreme and said no to anything resembling porn period since they weren't sure they could filter well enough.

Tapas hasn't said what exactly got them trouble, but I would guess that maybe it's someone reported some of the comics and novels fall under the child porn category (weather it's true or not).
