[image] Just saw the Galaxy Fold presentation. Do any of you think it could be the ultimate portable comic reader device? It’s more portable than an iPad, but is small like a smartphone. I think it could make reading comics on the go a dream. But at $2000...
Ironically, when I searched "Tapastic" on the App Store, the #1 result is Webtoons. What I'm saying is that Tapas will lose eyeballs to competitors if they aren't on the App Store and that is deadly
The iOS ecosystem is huge and studies have shown that iOS users tend to spend more on in-app purchases than Android users. I think Tapas financially can't afford not to be on the App Store. Webtoons has purged "sexy" content from its app. Maybe Tapas will have to do the same so that the company can …
I wonder how this App Store ban will affect content on Tapas. It seems like it was taken down from the App Store the same day the 3rd Writer’s Camp results were announced
Really? I never saw that. Can you share the link? Thanks!
I was going to update my Tapas app on my iPhone, but then it said, "This item is no longer available." I searched for "Tapas" and "Tapastic" and nothing comes up on the App Store. Anyone else experiencing this?
I agree. The winner did nothing wrong. I guess people are just angry that the contest rules weren’t clear enough. Hopefully next time things will end up better
A possible solution would be to change all prizes to Editor’s Pick. Make a rule that says subs will be taken into account, however they are all Editor’s Pick. This will give the Tapas staff more wiggle room in terms of what to pick up, while not dissuading ppl from advertising outside the Tapas plat…
I think for future Writer's Camp it is better to implement a rule that makes external marketing difficult and/or illegal. Otherwise it would turn into a contest of who has the most Facebook friends, Twitter and Instagram followers. Also authors with huge fanbases from outside Tapas would have a high…
Here's mine: Aliens offer humanity the cure for cancer. But everything has a price.
Hey guys, I'm a big sci-fi fan and looking for something new to read. But I haven't really found much sci-fi or maybe romance/sci-fi on here. Anything you could recommend? And for all fellow sci-fi fans who find their way to this thread in this corner of the Internet, I also want to share my story…
I totally agree. Especially with your first point. Since most of the subs went to BL entries and all the winners were BL entries, it can be very discouraging to non-BL writers. Especially if the editor's pick was also a BL story. It would be easy to think that the editorial staff only wanted to add …
I guess we’ll just have to wait. But my guess is that another community prize winner will be chosen. Prince of Mayhem would be my guess, since it is one of the Runner ups and ranks 3rd in subs.
Hey guys, recently started a thread which asked people to share a brilliant line they wrote for their most recent. I thought it might be interesting to do a thread where people share ONE line (or brief paragraph) that encapsulates their character from their work! Here is mine (From ELINA): “I…
Wow, thanks for all your responses. really interesting choices
I always use Ommwriter to write. It has this zen soundtrack that makes it easy for me to focus.
Hmmmm...I think these lines from my novel The Snow Maiden would probably represent my style the best? "I was always a straight B student. Because a C made me look dumb and an A wasn't worth the effort."
Ever had that time when you come up with a line or paragraph, then a few days later you edit it and you feel like, "Damn I really outdid myself there." Then you fear you'll never be able to pull off something like this ever. again. Share your favorite line from your most recent work below! Really…
I read Hollywood doesn't bother to release the good movies until around April - May. Maybe it's because we are all too tired and depressed and our wallets depleted from the holidays? Oh well...let's get through January and keep writing. As much as possible lol
Haven't posted in the forums in a while since I've been so busy with the Writer's Camp, work and other projects. How's everyone doing? Anyone feel the January fatigue? Like I just wanna sit there and watch Bird Box (how awesome was that movie?)
I emailed Tapas about this during the 2nd Writer's Camp and they said it's no problem to keep updating
I use an iPhone 7 Plus. With water resistance, it's prolly going to last me forever lol That iPhone Xs Max looks nice though, but I can't justify the cost. I'd rather buy a new laptop with that money.
Oh, I had no idea! I'm at 129 subs for my novel ELINA, so I thought I couldn't take part in this event. A reader actually messaged me about this. If the staff can unlock tipping before hitting 250 subs, that would be awesome
I really don’t like novels where the story starts off with the character feeling sorry for themselves. It just doesn’t click with me. But maybe other readers feel different?
I have two theories. First: the top 30 position is calculating your growth rate, engagement (likes and comments) rate, clicks rate relative to how long the comic has been online and how many episodes it has. Second: The staff just likes your content and wants to promote it in some way.
Oh! I like the Surface Book 2/Surface Laptop. If anyone pries my MacBook Pro from my cold dead hands, then the Surface and ThinkPad line would be my top choices.
I'm not sure if it is just me, but when I write, it has to be on a specific keyboard. I just can't get into the flow of the words until unless it is that specific keyboard. I started out 10 years ago with the Sony VAIO island style keyboards, then got into the MacBook Pro keyboard (the chunky one) a…
Hmm...this is my favorite single line from my current work Teaching English In Another World: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a person in possession of a laptop, must be in want of downloading Google Chrome."
You deserve it looking forward to more of your work
Ah, I didn’t mean that she doesn’t work hard. I just mean that in terms of probability of success, BL is higher than other genres. She updates 2 times a day, of course she works very hard.
