Hey if you want I can host the webcomic on my page. I can make the cover page look like a poster with an Ad for the fight club and I can put together the fight cards for the challengers. I'd brand it a bit based on my business avatar, the friendly sheep like if the place had a sponsor but The focus would be on the fights and the fighters. Let me know! I think an ad for this might get more people interested :stuck_out_tongue:

Sweet. I was at least thinking of starting out small to see if it will work out before doing anything super big, but I probably wouldn't mind getting the word out a bit.

I see my influence
Can't participate but I will keep tabs and see how this goes ~
But so if I understand this correctly, in here everyone can challange anyone as opposed to everyone vs your dudes. Yes?

Yeah, everyone can challenge anyone in combat. (Got the idea from the webshow Death Battle, but with hopefully less death.)

Hey. I'd be up for quick 1-2 page fights. Got two combatants one the ready for when this thing starts

This is what I had in mind. Took the morning to throw this together.

The fight cards would have an overall visual aesthetic similar to the poster. I was thinking since you're allowing referees and announcers that we could make also make them guest characters from other series. The layout of the comic would have to accommodate fighting and announcements but It's definitely doable. Whoever is working on the series can find characters from different creators to fill those roles.

Well, if it's ever gonna happen, this seems like the best idea put fourth. Lemme know what you think!

That actually looks really cool! I could really dig something like that.

My new Writers Club book debuting soon should have some characters like to tussle. Only one has a name so far. I will post some character descriptions in two or three more days.

Question: Does the challenger or the challenged decide the type of combat? In old European duels, it was the challenged who got to dictate weapons and conditions, I think.

Well it sorta seems things haven't been decided on exactly... I think I can come up with a format for how fights are done if you give me a bit of time.

Just pitch a character or two, their abilities, strengths, and weakness, and when we have enough combatants from different people, you then challenge another someone else's combatant. ( I was thinking of maybe taking a page out of Death Battle and maybe having the two combatants have a connecting theme like both are martial artists or have opposing elemental powers etc. but let's see how this plays out first.)

@Zaboem I was thinking that both combatants agree on the type of combat/arena their characters engage in beforehand. (I.E. Duel, 2v2, Team Battle, Tag Team, Free-for-All Battle Royale between multiple creators, whether or not the battle is to the death etc. etc.)

P.S. I was thinking of adding at least one or two more of my characters for people to challenge, but I think I'll wait until I have my first match with the Masked Puppers before I add someone else.

so who is supposed to draw what? The challenger or the challenged?

I was thinking both draw a page or two of the fight.

So what happens if someone is being challenged, but that person is too busy to really participate at the time? Do the challenger have to pick another person to challenge or would they proceed anyways, with just the one person? I'm not trying to be mean when I ask this, it's just a defining factor that I personally would like to know before I'd be willing to participate. I like to have some form of structure or rules and not have something that's chaotic and disorganized.

I'm not sure, but I was thinking that either the participants agree to drop the match, or they continue with just one person with slight input from the other one.

Sorry for the double post but, @stnmaren, if you're interested in this, I have a character who'd love to duel one of your characters.

Okay so I have this idea for the Fight Club. It's a little drawn out and rough but here's what I got; feedback is encouraged.

Basically we should separate each fight into two episodes. The first episode is the introduction to the following:

I. Poster Ad (Details publishing date of actual fight and the number of fights that have ever been held, hoping the number gets big)

II. Character Title Cards (Introduce fighters participating in combat with a brief description under their portrait)

III. Fight Club Greeting (Welcome guests to Fight Club while introducing our wonderful guest announcers and referee)

IV. Stage Introduction (Has the guest announcers give an overview of the arena where combat will commence with emphasis on it's construction and composition )

V. Weigh In (Essentially Brief character bios outlining their origins as a character, their strengths and their weaknesses in combat)

VI. Trash Talk (The two characters are introduced by the referee and are allowed a few panels to interact with their adversary)

VII. Closing Thoughts (The announcers give their final opinions on any aspect of the fight that will later take place)

VIII. Comic Ads (Announcers give a quick shout out to both comic series that the characters hearken back to with a closing statement reminding guests to catch the event)

Now this might seem like a lot but I'd like to outline why this first episode consisting of these eight elements is important
Basically the only way this kind of project will see long term success is if everyone who has characters involved, as well as the people who decide to read these fights feel like what they are participating in is Legitimate. It will be hard to get creators to give us access to their characters if they feel like it's something hodgepodge or won't paint their character in a positive light and it will be hard to have an engaged audience if they think this is some kind of project that could collapse at any second.

This kind of intro prior to the fight is meant to get everyone involved prepared for the Massive, Amazing, Only gonna find it here kind of event that is going to take place. It is the context that makes this whole fight club idea exciting.

Things like the Comic Ad or the Trash Talk Sequence give time for the authors to show the life that inhabits their story and to have readers directed to the origin of their being which will hopefully get people reading their comic and give readers even more investment into the fight.

Finally I want to address the fact that I have not talked about how the fights will take place and what are the roles of the creators taking part.
I have ideas for the layout of the paneling for how a fight takes place but I would like to leave that in a more developed explanation; I spent a lot of time working on the content for the first episode. I want the participation to be taken care of right away as it lets us determine how many people are going to be involved with each fight. From the looks of it, We are looking at 5 Guests per fight. I also have ideas for how we go about recruiting creators and their characters but like I said I wanted to get this out of the way first since the idea is so nebulous at the moment.

So, I would immensley appreciate any and all feed back on my proposal and with enough support, I will go in to laying out the format of the second episode which would be the fight itself!

Lemme know!
