Sorry about missing this comment for three months.
I was loading up a moving truck this say, and as a result, I missed most of the TOS kerfluffle.
Yes, originally Tapastic was called Comic Panda.
I remember seeing comics by Mikiko Ponczeck on it, and I messaged her to say how cool I thought it was that we were on the same platform (she's Zombiesmile on dA and I'm oldschool dA too).
Mikiko said "What? I'm not on that website."
So, recently, I asked Michael about how this happened back in 2012.
The way he tells it, an overzealous intern (possible employee) uploaded content without permission.
I suppose they were hoping to get permission and had a readymade acct. over to the actual artist, because my experience was quite different.
Back in 2012, I got an email that asked if I wanted to join. I did and I got paid too.
As a result of that interaction, I am now a professional cartoonist (albeit with a competitor).
So, do I think that Tapastic acted with malice?
No.
Do I think it is okay to upload an artist's content without permission?
No.
The last thing that I will say is this.
Under the right conditions, it is a very good thing to have people steal your content.
We should all be so lucky.
Take care, kiddos!
