Thankyou for sub images!

hi all! I noticed almost EVERYONE I've subbed to has "thanks for subbing" images, and the oddest thing is i can't decide what to do for an image, I have loads of characters in the story but only a few main. should i maybe make one with just the MC? or several and group ones! and just close my eyes and pic when the time comes? whats your personal preference? here's my story Los.E if you're interested !

I do these thank-you posts to a.) show genuine appreciation for my new subber! and b.) signal to them that it is 100% okay to approach me and talk and comment and whatnot, since some people are a bit hesitant about that.

Here are the images I've used:

... picking the main characters seemed like a good idea, since they are the focus of the story and will be the thing people remember best about it.

I also do milestone-thank yous - whenever I reach a certain number of subscribers, I draw a picture and post it on my wall, and click the little bell on the post to alert all of my subscribers. This is where I take the chance to draw all the other characters in my cast, including the very minor ones that only appeared for one chapter and won't be coming back.

Most creator use main character as the picture but for me I use my chibi self-avatar. This character created purposely to portray myself.

Like what @AnnaLandin said, it's a way to tell readers that you won't bite so you can talk to them and since my I have a slow sub increase I can totally take the time to type a post to their wall. Though I don't know what I'm gonna do if I "miraculously" gained 1k subs in one night.

Those are great pictures! Are you changing on a regular basis? Like one picture a year, changing whenever you feel like, using different ones simultaneously...

Here's mine. This thank you image features my main character. It's actually the only one i've got for now, i'll probably make more thank you images as the story progresses.

These are the two I've used, the second one being the one I'm currently using. My comic is still at its early stages, so I'm only featuring the main character for now. In a couple more volumes I'd like to update it to include other important characters too. I think that's an OK way to go about it. Do it however you see fit, and change/update it every now and then when the time is right! : )

@christinaeliz I use this one (which you know cuz I just sent you one, seeing as you're subbed to my comic yay thank you)! I am thinking about changing it up since I normally ink and then color, but the sketch below was just colored over my original sketchbook pencils. Still, it does the trick for now to show my appreciation!

I like to make little gifs! They're so fun to make and a nice change from my usual style. Dead easy too, there are lots of tutorials online.

I love any kind of images people send me, honestly. It's just a lovely thing to do.

Usually using your main character(s) is a great way to go!

For my comic, my team and I just used some artwork that we did in development and polished it up for our Thank You images. I do notice that multiple characters seem pretty popular.

This is our MC Markesha, with her technical engineer Audrey.

And then Markesha again with her dad.

Our pages take so long to produce, that using work we already had with minimal effort really paid off. It didn't take long to make, and people really like them. Stick to your main character or cast. Use characters who are relevant to the story even from the first go, and I think you'll be fine.

Another thing to keep in mind when you're considering whom to use:
A lot of times what makes me check out a comic isn't its thumbnail or its title, but a ThankYou on someone else's wall that looks interesting or fun! So for me, I wanted my thankyou to be a cute thank-you from my characters (mine uses my main three) so that you can see their personalities -- anyone new who stumbles across it on someone else's wall gets a good impression of my comic, and anyone who subbed to bookmark the comic and check it out later might get a thankyou and be like "oh yeah! That comic I subbed to, those characters look fun, lemme go catch up now!"

Also: the less "tall" your image is, the less it pushes down on the posts under you. I actually really wanna make my thankyou image a little shorter next time I make one, since this isn't something I thought about -- it feels more courteous to me to not take up the entire screen. ;u;
