That story you really wanna read, but nobody writes it

Do you have any of this?

Like... I have the general "Canon queer and poc character", I always wanna see that.

But the other, more specific, thing I always wanted to see was magical boys, like Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura or Corrector Yui, but male. Do you guys have something more specific like this?

So... I actually made a plot and designs, since I just needed to see it. And them they announced Binan Koukou Boueui Bu Love! And I was really happy I would finally have my magical boys! But then I started to watch it... And I didn't enjoy it so much, so I got that plot and made it happen.

Now I have a "canon queer poc magical boys story", Delphinium: Don't Drink The Tea.

And what about that story you never knew you needed until you saw it?

The ones I know are by Leppu, Prague Race is super awesome, but she has a 24 hour comic about a dragon's dentistman... the guy takes care of dragon's teeth... I mean... How awesome is that? It is called Adventures of Dentistman and Dragonboy, btw xD

If I want to see a particular type of story and it doesn't exist, I always just end up planning one myself. I really love sci-fi and fantasy and watched/read a lot of it growing up, but the characters were always straight, so now I make comics and write prose featuring the kinds of worlds and adventures I love and the gay and bi leads I always wanted to see. I just wish I had more time to make them all.

I got fed up with whiteness dominating fictive landscapes, so everything I do is driven by protagonists of color. Thankfully American comics are finally opening up (however slowly).

@gateofselidor I know that you might have said "gay and bi" just to generalize, but do you always make pan, asexual, etc, and people with difference between sexual and romantic orientation? Just wondering xD

Yeah I'm always looking for tastefully played queer characters- not the kind where they seem to just be there to be joked about like in a lot of mainstream media.
I really wanna read a story with a canon trans male lead (or a major character at least) but haven't found anything.

I've also always wanted to read a story about someone who talked originally permanantely losing their voice somehow and having to go through the process of coping with it.

FIrst I want more trans characters in general. >< Delphinium has a trans female character that is going to appear soon, but is gonna take sometime to really show as a main character. End. has a trans female character that lives in my heart, cuz I love her story, she is one main character, but there is a after life thing that makes things hard to explain now xD There is also a bigender lolita character.

But the canon trans male lead reminds me that I thought "Is there any story about a trans character switching bodies with a cisgender character?" and a few minutes after I had a whole plot about a trans male (no transition, so female body) that switches body with his cis gender male boss. And I feel so sorry about them, but I think it is going to be great.

Oh, you might like 3PM in the morning, they are comic strips about his personal life, but he is a trans male, so...

And that story about the person losing it's voice sounds great o-o There is a character like that in Prague Race, he is not the main character, tho.

Yeah more trans characters in general but I see a lot more trans females (as seen with your examples, too and I could name a few different ones) while I can think of almost no trans males. There still needs to be a great increase in trans females too, (as well as all underrepresented groups) but as of now it makes me really sad I can't think of a single trans male in a webcomic I've read.

Body swap stories tend to make me cringe but it has the potential to be interesting.

oKAY SO. I dont to distract from the topic of equality amongst characters, because that is something I support whole hearted. The lack of representation of loads of minorities is a problem that can and will be fixed, but not without a little work from loads of different areas, including webcomics.

But, I mean, I don't if you guys have garnered this from me yet, but Tokyo Ghoul has been my heart since shortly after I began reading it, mainly because it did one thing I've always, always wanted in a story. It straight made me like what was literally my hero turned villain. I felt all the sads and he was still the protagonist, regardless of his now obvious mental immorality. That's something I've honestly never seen, and it was pulled off so well. Before I read it, I never ever realised how amazing it was being pulled along with the protagonist, and knowing with your heart that they're just royally screwed and nothing can save them, but also being unable to stop supporting them.

I dunno, just the aspect of a hero becoming a complete villain in the name of something heroic is just so amazing, and when portrayed in the right way, it's like having some amazing southern lemonade. Just sweet enough, with a strong kick hidden in the aftertaste.

@Jelw I agree, I already made a topic about representativiness, and asked for something with trans male character, and a trans woman said that she didn't really "care" about trans male characters, because trans men don't sufer as much as trans women =/ Come on, both of them need more love...

Huahauhaua, well, I don't know many body swap stories, but there is a GREAT brazilian movie called "Se Eu Fosse Você", and the actors are truly amazing (dot, they are always amazing) in playing the opposite gender/character ><

But I think my idea has such potential for being super freaking sad =/ I had this idea when I heard that cis people can experience gender dysphoria when they try to pretend to be the other gender, like... Mulan pretending to be a dude o-o So a cis male in a female body is probably going to experience gender dysphoria, while the trans male is going to feel great in the new body, it is like... there is no escape =/ They can understand each other, but they can't really help...? Each other.

Also, yes, there is indeed a transgender male character! Mutsuki, and he is amazing. He shows up in the second series, and also forewarning, the show is, to be frank, shit compared to the manga. Ishida does some amazing work with his storytelling that didn't translate all too well over animation.

I have characters with a variety of sexualities, but because I don't write straightforward romance and/or slice of life, it's rarely a topic of conversation in my comics, and I wouldn't expect anyone to consider that representation. It's really only something that comes up regarding romance subplots featuring my main characters, who are for the most part gay, bi, and lesbian. I sometimes write trans protagonists, if it's a world where they could expect to have a reasonable quality of life (my current comic Lemongrass, for example, is very low-tech fantasy with minimal magic, and would be a pretty miserable place to be trans).

I don't really trust any media to feature decent representation for trans men. The only professionally published comic I can remember seeing pull it off is Honey & Honey, an autobiographical manga about a lesbian couple, which occasionally featured friends of theirs who are trans men. Most manga and anime end up revealing the character to be a woman in disguise and/or confused, and on the odd occasion that you see a trans man in Western entertainment, they are nearly always the same pre-everything young teen archetype. Dragon Age Inquisition did a pretty decent job with one of their supporting characters, but that's about the only other positive example I can think of.

I've always wanted to read a story about Dota 2's lore. So, instead of moping around imagining it in my head, I WENT AND MADE A COMIC ABOUT IT! It's still pretty new though, so there's not much to the story yet.
