I will have to agree with this. I have seen people literally complain in these threads that they have nothing to bitch about.

I think the original purpose of this thread (whining about everyday things and venting a little) has instead become a black hole of negativity where people break out drama for entertainment's sake or complain about things just because in current internet culture, being a pessimist means you're cool or whatever. As long as these bitching threads are still around, they will continue to be used as a chance for some people to insult people, talk shit about people, talk shit to or about each other, start fights and create a generally pessimistic tone on these forums that socially sneaks into other threads. It's just bad for the community.

I used to advice my fans to go to the forums when they had simple tech problems and start a thread so that multiple people could either help them or chime in with their issues so that staff can get a better understanding of how several users on different devices are experiencing a similar problem. I have stopped advicing my fans to go to the forums other than when linking tapas official announcement posts because I wouldn't want them to get caught up in the negativity and think that it represents the entire tapas community.

I think the forums work better when they are primarily used for discussing art methods, sharing resources, and grouping up to describe tech issues and notify staff. Or discussing new features.

this is probably gonna sound hypocritical as (self-confessed) one of the bitching threads biggest problems voices, but id support a motion to close the bitching thread if you chose to do that.

@LordVincent summed it up pretty well. having a few threads where people are chatty, allowed to topic-hop and be friendly is nice, but the devolution into arguments is not, and the premise of this thread makes that very easy. i know, i dont help, i am trying to get better at that, and claiming accountability in the process. but i think closing the thread would help everyone in getting better at keeping things civil here, and it would certainly help me.

in the name of accountability i would like to publicly apologise. in general for contributing to the negative atmosphere of the thread, and directly to you, @ratique , because i know ive made your job harder on quite a few occasions. i am working at handling disagreements tactfully, and diverting them when thats not possible, but i still have a lot of work to do in the tact department, for sure.

but yeah, tl;dr down with the bitching thread, i wont miss it.

I think it's better to have one black hell hole where people can just pour their negativity then having it spread out throughout the forum, imagine the threads that would be created and the problems that could come from all that negativity, humans need and outlet for their anger and negativity so why not give it to them?

plus I'm sure that if they do close this thread another one will appear or the drama will just spread
¯ \ _ (ツ) _ / ¯ better have it centralised I say

Because this is a webcomic forum. For and about webcomics. It is not this forum's responsibility to keep your mental balance in check.

Even the mods don't care about the novelists T_T .

It is bizarre. I have same problem with male and female acting categories in awards. What is so male or female about acting. Just give the award to best performer.

The forum mods are not tapas mods and do not affect or meddle in the content on tapas on an official level. Ratique has been forum moderator since before novels became a part of tapas so I think it's just a slip of the tongue ^^''''

If people want a place to take out their negativity I have some advice:

Close all current tabs.
Open a new one and google for punching bags and equipment.
Install in home (alternatively you can go to a gym where this equipment already exists)
Do the punchbag do.

Other methods:
Chop wood.
Cook a dish that requires you to beat the meat (no not that way you perv)
If you're not asexual, beating the meat in that-way-you-perv can actually help too
Go for a walk
Go for a run
Scream out loud
Bake bread (requires a lot of physical push)

I'm sure you can think of more.

My point is: There are way more healthy ways to handle stress and anger that also have more productive outcomes, than writing angry posts on the internet or attacking people verbally.

bruh, timehop

i was thinking abt that too, tho. ig it makes sense to balance out the gap - look at roles like best director, theyre almost never won by women. i imagine if they didnt split it by gender itd be just one big sausage fest

people are giving people too much credit I think =/ if we could do all that twitter and facebook would be out of buisness XD

Christ, what the hell did I miss...
I go out for 1 frakkin day, and you guys come up with an argument spanning everything from racism to capitalism.
I mean, I'm awed by your dedication to the topic (and your chosen side), but…
I think it's better to close this off. Or better yet, put some restrictions.
I mean, sure, there's lots of things wrong with the world and your lives, and there should be a place to vent it out. That's all fine and dandy.
But you see, every single one of you are, if I may quote @joe_galindez,

Hell, even I am.
Every time we try arguing something from our point of view, there's always a bias to it. No matter what you say, or what you try to say, we'll never get to the objective POV.
And if it comes from the collective negativity of human beings? There's a hell lot of bias everywhere.
And when someone's opinion clashes with yours...the bias starts flying everywhere, claws come out, and the moderators have a hell of a time wrestling with their inner consciences. If they have one.
And of course, when your opinion gets hurt, you get hurt. Sending out your opinion on the Internet is like letting your child go through a slaughterhouse, with clearly identifiable slaughterers.
And when people get hurt...they lash out. They think about nothing else but slamming others until they feel that they are compensated.
And the cycle repeats.
(Sorry for bringing up a conversation that should, by all means, be put down.)
Anyways. My thing to bitch about.
I still can't bike. Or rollerblade. Or skateboard.
Like, huwhat? How do you equally shift your weight on a moving pedestal (pedestals in the case of rollerblades) without falling?
Honestly, I'm scared of biking :sob: Or any other form of transportation that involves balance.

I'm afraid I must reject that suggestion. I am sensitive, yes, but I am not hiding, and I do not shy away from a chance to explain my points of view (which, in this thread, have been rather mild, if expressed at all).

My name is Solomon J. Twiggs. It's the name on my ID card. It's the name I use on Tapas, on Medium, and on Twitter. I only used a pseudonym here because the forum prompted me when I tried to connect from my Tapas Creator account.

You can generalize if you must, but a generalization must not be preceded by "every single one of you." That is not a generalization. That is a tactical discriminate strike from a collective of hijacked Hydra helicarriers . You'll forgive me if the Hulk in me deflects it.

at the basis of this being closed..

I agree!
I think it creates a rather gross impact and gives everyone a rather bad taste to each other.

And with that notion

have a good day my fellows

If people truly need to bitch all the time, just open up a discord...

give the moderator one less annoyance.
