My winter coats are too small yet I am so bad at clothes shopping that I am struggling to find new ones. I am not really a shopaholic, so it is sort of hard for me to decide what to buy.

tips on clothes shoping from a noob to another:

buy simple buy safe, usually a simple solid colour looks better than a big textures, also they are easier for noobies like us to understand, blue looks good with black and grey looks good with white and so on.

never buy without checking other shops first (some have the same thing but at lower prices ;D).

most important of all make sure the clothes you pick fit you, this is what makes most people look bad in clothes they buy, it's either too big or too small, a good way to check is if the arm seams go from your arm pit to the tip of the shoulder

also try out some clothing blogs they usually give great tips on how to dress nice and cheap

I don't really need fashion tips. I'm the type of person who doesn't wear sport shoes because I think they are hideous.

My issue is more that in the US there is a HUGE selection that it becomes overwhelming. Maybe I should not have gone to the Burlington Coat Factory, it's a freakin' warehouse. I also tend to like coats that button like this

But most of the ones they had were the zipper coats with the plastic material.

My other coats are also old. One I got back in 2007ish and the other back in 2009. I was also underweight back then and I am a normal weight now, so it is too tight to even button/zip them up. I never really bought a new coat up to now because I am poor.

I've never been to a Burlington store but are there any store associates around? It may be or seem silly to suggest but usually for me when all else fails I'll ask a sales associate. If they're doing the job right and hopefully aren't having a bad day they may be able to help. Plus it's not just about "doing the job" but aiding the customer. A little bit of research may help as well especially if there's a specific style you have in mind like the double row button down like you have in the picture. Maybe see/ask if there are specific brands that have jackets in that style and from there check materials like if you prefer leather/cotton/polyester or maybe something blended.

I feel like the biggest issue with shopping is that there's SO many options and it becomes overwhelming plus just not knowing what or how to ask for specific things. Hope that helps though

I don't like dealing with store associates. Part being social anxiety, part being me being sick, part being that they can be a bit pushy when it comes to trying to sell you something. I think maybe I should go back when I am feeling better.

@NickRowler Pea coat. Old Navy used to sell em...look online to see if you can order one. I still want one- one day I may get one; just winters where I live dont stay cold forever.

I hate it when I sub to a YT creator and they switch to mostly, if only making these random "unboxing videos". I really don't care what your fans sent you or the content of your random nerd box subscriptions. I just don't get why we get all these nonsense videos rather than any of the content we subbed for. It's the equivalent of a comic artist making a comic for 4 years and then randomly stopping and only sharing fanart of it once every few weeks and never explaining what's going on. At least tell us if it's just taking a long time to make new vids or something.

I think your buying your shirts to small, if the shirt fits like the image then you shouldn't have a problem with room at the arm areas, at least from my experience, and for longer shirts you need to go to a tailor, shirts go wider not longer sadly =C, or invest in one of these

so i've been using twitter a bit and it's been okay but suddenly the one person i'd rather not have following me boop and follows me? i expected the "check yes or no if they can follow you" but i didn't happen they're just there. i'm assuming it has to do with the fact that i changed my account to public but like...WHY....i'm not even like super mad i'm just annoyed and i'd prefer not to block cuz heaven forbid it leads to conflict. i dont need unwanted stress going into 2018 and i swear i'll make another twitter if that's the sacrifice to be made but w h y

haa as amusing as it is to entertain such ideas, I'll stick to keeping them muted. If they escalate then I'll just block.

I'm also annoyed that my only current coping mechanism (since drawing and art have become mildly agitating) is building houses in minecraft.

I also just saw a tweet that makes my "issue" seem minuscule in comparison although the best reaction to either is "smh" or a related gif

All my shirts are kinda too big because XS mens size is too large sometimes and most women's shirts are tailored in a way way thaat is too roomy in the boob area.

I've kinda learnt what model types to look for and what kind of shirt might work. Usually something more androgynous fits me better.

I don't think I was meant to be a girly girl or a manly man anyways. Fuck that noise.
