Both: Uhh...?
Res: Yeah, they're from the 1830's (tech-equivalent). Public schools were just barely becoming a thing and neither of these boys grew up wealthy enough for private schooling as kids.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Din: I learned some medicine from my mother, but I am otherwise self-taught. For magic, my father was my teacher until he was killed.
Conan: I learned to ride and care for horses from my parents. I picked up leatherworking and some carpentry from the caravaneers, and I was thinkin' about pickin up smithing so I don't need to commission the metal fixings for my tack...

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
Din: My parents, of course. I also greatly admire the works of Arcein, a great Magician who lived several centuries ago. I've studied her works for years and the enchantments she worked--I admit I have not yet discovered how she cast as she did. The strength of her magic was well outside the skill and limits of an average Magician.
Conan: I guess my mom. She was strong, despite everything.

21.While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Din: Heh. My brother used to test my patience; well, he still does on occasion, but...we're all we have left.
Conan: When Lucie's family took me in, her older brothers tormented me relentlessly, but I'll admit that I didn't make myself easy to get along with either.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Din: A doctor, when I was very young.
Conan: I always knew I'd be taking over my family's stable; just didn't expect it to be so soon when I was a kid.

Cassie "My biggest role model was my grandpa, he use to tell me about his adventures in the British air force and all the places he went."
JJ "my role model came into my life later on but I cannot talk about her with these guys around"

Cassie "my mom not so good, i love my dad to bits. as for new members of the house well i'll hold off on that one"
JJ "Me and mom have our moments, mostly she's had to work lots so i spent most of my time at zoe's house, my second family"
Zoe "Mom and dad are great, my big sister hates me though, and i wish she would get kidnapped by aliens or something to get her away from me"
Roz "when i was younger it was just me and dad and he was angry all the time"

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Cassie "At first i wanted to go in the army like dad, but now i'm not so sure i'd be happy killing people"
JJ "I wanted to be a firefighter"
Zoe "I wanted to be a singing star..and i am!"
Roz "I just wanted to live in a real house with a mom and dad"

Miss: Homeschooled because my mother said public school focused too much on human-stuff and not enough on magic.

Crow: No, I was only good at PE.

Miss: I sort of wish I went to public school instead.

Crow: um...pass

Miss: From my mother.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.

Crow: My dad. But I guess as I grow older, I would have to say more so my mom. She never really let her disability get in her way.

Miss: Shoo's mother, I guess.

21.While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?

Crow: Raven is like my best friend.

Miss: I hate to admit it but I used to get along quite well with my mother. I also got along with her boyfriend. My father was never around, so I don't know.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Crow: A cowboy, duh.

Miss: Take a drink if Crow said cowboy. For myself, I guess I never really thought about it. I know what my mother wanted me to be. She wanted me to be my father.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?

Shanti: I loved rubber band skipping, used to play it a lot!

Sekhmet: Snorkeling.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

Shanti: I was a bit shy, but enjoyed having many friends and playing with them as much as I could. I couldn't stand still, always running around, even jumping from one piece of furniture to another in the house! I was sensitive and caring.

Sekhmet: I was lonely. When I was very little, I didn't want to play with anyone. I don't know why, I guess I was content with playing alone. I invented stories and built things. It was nice, felt good. At some point, I became more interested in others, and wanted to play with other kids, but they would barely talk to me. They said they found me scary. So I was left out a lot.
I was also very bored at school. I found everything repetitive and annoying. And cried whenever the class seemed to make progress on some activity, like a math problem, only to find out they were way behind me. It was weird.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Shanti: Yes, I was quite popular, even if I was also a bit of an outsider. I was fun to be around, or at least that's what most kids thought about me, so I tended to get along pretty much with everyone. Except for the bullies. Those, well, I would beat them up as often as I could. I couldn't stand injustice back then, either!

My friends were children from hard-working families. I didn't like rich, spoiled brats.

Sekhmet: I was rather unpopular. Kids thought I was scary or intimidating, probably because I would stare them down if they approached me. But I was just either curious or completely uninterested. I just used to stare, I guess. As in "Who are you?" vs "Who the fuck are you? Piss off, you're boring me."

A couple of kids didn't fear me. I think they were A.I.M.S. like me, but none of us never found the guts to tell each other about it. They were from families that kept moving around the Federation. I think they were on the run, but I didn't realize it back then. It was hard to see them go. I never had a chance to meet them again. They may be dead, for all I know.

Crow: Watching westerns, reading westerns, pretending my life is a western

Miss: ...I'm sorry I got off track by how much of a dork Crow is. Any who, I liked to go into town and hang with friend Blake.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

Crow: OK, I admit I was a bit obsessive and would get angry when people had different tastes.

Miss: I guess I was a bit emotionally manipulating...People also told me I was a little too flirty with boys, I guess that is sort of true.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?

Crow: I wasn't really that popular, I guess my magic wasn't as cool. My best friend was Brad Bail. He's OK, but he tends to be a bit of a pushover.

Miss: I dunno, I got boys chasing me but I did not have much in the way of female friends. I was also home schooled so I guess it is hard to tell if I would be popular if I went to public school. My best friend was Blake, he's was a shy poor boy who lived in a shack, he was later able to climb up the social ladder and now he lives in a nice house. There is also Shoo-Fly, he's passive, dull, and a little girly. He's my oldest friend and currently my boyfriend. There was also Rahm Oh, he was energetic and lively and I did eventually marry him, but then he died. And finally, Lily. I used to hate her when I was little but when I grew older and got over the whole "stealing Blake from me", I realized she is actually quite nice.

Funny you asked, I noticed the topic and wanted to answer it a while ago (and I will definitely do!). The trouble so far is that I've been through a bajillion deadlines that have sucked all my time, I can barely manage the webcomic. The good news is that I'm on the last one, I should be able to finish it sometimes next week, then we'll be back to normal and we'll see some news on this front too.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?

Shanti: Summertime. I used to play all kinds of games (soccer, running, whathaveyou) with a group of girls. I was 14. One night (it was about 11 o'clock), I quietly slipped through the back door without my parents knowing, met with one of these girls in the backyard, and... we kissed.

Sekhmet: I was at the beach, it was morning time of a very sunny day. I was 13, I think. A group of older kids approached me. One of the girls (she was 20) dared me to kiss her. I thought she was joking and I said I wouldn't. She asked me why. I said she was too skinny for me. It wasn't true, I was quite attracted to her. I was just too embarrassed and unconformable to say otherwise, because of the other kids. Everyone laughed, including her, but then she gave me a strange look. She seemed hurt. Later that day, I waited for her to be alone, told her I didn't mean to say that, and I actually liked her. She pushed me against the wall and kissed me.

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?

Shanti: (I had to ask Sekhmet about that one. She had to look that word up in the dictionary. Strange word from a strange old time, if you ask me). I was 18, and I was camping with a group of what I believe you may call "scouts" (ancient as you are). One of the "scout" leaders was really cute, I had a crush on her and that's when we did it. In a tent. She was 25.

Sekhmet: Virginity? That's an ancient word, I had to look it up in the dictionary. You mean the first time I had sex, right? Anyway, I was barely 18 and in a place I would rather not mention. She was a soldier. I think she was 30.

Shanti: I am a proud AIMS, a species I can't really talk about due to spoilers, but I can say that I learned about my abilities (if you want to call them that) immediately, because you just can't hide them. But around the age of 5, my family gently explained to me that I should show them only in private. People can be rather cruel to AIMS.

Sekhmet: Since the day I was born everyone figured out I was an AIMS, because my... abilities, as you put it... were very apparent. When I was 3, I was beat up badly and fainted because I was using them. I wasn't burning the house down or anything like that, mind you. It was nothing dangerous. I was home. It was just me and this asshole on a cold winter day. Asshole had a major overreaction. Still, that's when I realized I should never EVER use them. Public or private, doesn't matter.

Conan: Horseback riding, of course. Reading, some fishing in the creek...I haven't changed much since then.
Din: I also enjoyed reading as a child, helping my parents with their work, and exploring the Iridesan markets.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Conan: I was a quiet kid, from what people tell me. Kind of dour. I guess I got that from my dad.
Din: Precocious and curious, perhaps more than I should have been. Suffice to say, my childhood curiosity placed me in trouble more often than not.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
Conan: Oh, not really. No one wants to play with the gloomy kid. Well, there was always Lucie, of course, and a few other kids my age, but we didn't have the opportunity to get together often, except during market days.
Din: I also didn't know many other children my age. There were a few other children in the guild, but there was always an air of caution stifling our play and I don't remember them well.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
Conan: Um. Well. Lucie. We were both fifteen years old. Her dad wasn't too happy about it at the time. I slept in the barn that week.

Conan: Really? You're embarrassed about this one?
Din: Not...embarrassed. Guilty, perhaps. I have only been in one relationship, and I had to cut it off to our mutual suffering. To answer the question, it was ten years ago with the alchemist guildmaster.

Conan: Despite what Lucie's father thinks, yes.

Conan: Uhh...it's a long story, starting with this guy -gestures at Din- kidnapping me...But we're born to it. It was the finding out that came as a shock, since my parents hid it from me...What? No, not magic, I'm talking about being a [spoiler].

Shanti: The day I found Horizon, my assassins' organization. They bring justice where there is none.

Sekhmet: When I completed the project that turned me into a war criminal. I'd... rather not talk about it.

Shanti: Courageous women like my mother.

Sekhmet: I don't know.

31.What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Shanti: Been able to always do what I want to, especially traveling.

Sekhmet: Hmmm... I need to think about that one. I consider most of my life a complete failure, so it's hard for me to answer this question. Maybe... having saved some lives.

Miss: My first kiss was with Shoo-Fly. I was a baby and he kissed me, that is what his mother told me. I don't know if that counts.

Miss: No. It was with my husband...which I sort of regret. I don't really like sex.

Miss: I guess I always knew. I guess my mother was always very clear that I was different than humans or other magical creatures. She taught me plant magic starting at a young age.

Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name?

Emperor: AiXinJueLuo.Yong Yan

FuZhen: Niugulu. Fu Zhen

2: When and where were you born?

Emperor: 1757, Forbidden City, Jing Cheng

FuZhen: 1763, Jing Cheng

Who are/were your parents? Names, occupations,
personalities, etc.

Emperor: My father is the emperor who ruled the country. I
don't really understands him well, just like he doesn't understand me much too.
He doesn't trust his sons after the death of 2 of my brothers who he appointed
crown prince. He is unpredictable and hard to get close.

My birth mother died when I was really young, I don't
remember how she looked like except for a drawing of her. I was raised by
Concubine Yu, a low ranking wife of my father. She doesn't care about me, more
so after she had her own son. She is a very lonely woman who longed for
father's love.

FuZhen: My father is a middle ranking official serving the
late emperor. My mother is the 3rd wife of my father.

We've no position in the family. They treasured boys more.

Father doesn't like me or my mother but I was the better
looking ones amongst his daughters, I was picked to be married off to the royal
family in attempt to secure our clan's power.

Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?

Emperor: I've many siblings, we're close when we're young
but slowly starts to drift away, especially when father is trying to choose a
heir.

FuZhen: I've 1 brother and 5 sisters. We're never close
because we're all from different mothers. My mother only have me ... My father
prefers boy and blamed my mother for not having sons. I used to have a sister
I'm close to but she died young.

Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place
and the person/people.

Emeperor: I live in the palace. It's like a huge cage where
I'm trapped in. I lived with nearly a dozen of concubines, maids and servants.

My “wives” are not picked by me and I don’t have feelings
for them. They however, tried all ways to get close and please me… It’s pretty
disgusting.

Fuzhen: I’m stuck in the “Cold Palace” where everyone shuns.
I’m treated like dirt. My husband had banished me here, and I don’t know the
reason why… I couldn’t ask him, there is no way I can get out of here.

What is your occupation?

Emperor; I’m the emperor.

FuZhen: I’m an ex-concubine, now a “prisoner”.

Shanti: Not stopping Sekhmet from shooting herself. I know she's far stronger than me, but... I just wish I could have done something different.

Sekhmet: Too many to mention. Although, maybe... I let someone die because I was careless. I was told it wasn't my fault, but I can't forgive myself.

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?

Shanti: I lied to Blitz about being an assassin. I couldn't get myself to, but that's no real excuse.

Sekhmet: I am a war criminal! Read my file, I killed thousands of people.

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?

Shanti: Nope, but that's because I was never caught killing my targets.

Sekhmet: Genocide. And then some.

Shanti: I would spend a little more time with my family. I started traveling at a rather young age, but I should have spent a bit more time with them. I love my family dearly.

Sekhmet: I should have killed myself at the right time. It would have saved thousands of lives.
