Are you absolutely deadset on it representing a culture, though? Is representation what you're going for or are you working satire through your own perspective? Because honestly, it's totally impossible to give an accurate representation of ANYTHING beyond what we perceive (influences are vast, especially as we interact with one another more).

And I think that in the case of the spaghetti western idea, if you absolutely love it, if you're a fan, if you understand the tropes and a few of the socio-political/economic background for this genre, you can go wild! Love is first and foremost here, you gotta LOVE the concept, it'll bleed into your execution.

All that's really necessary is declaring that it's all your own personal spin on spaghetti western. It'd be so much fun for other fans to connect to points/gags/observations you make in your work based on what you've gotten out of it! That's what makes these old ideas fresh again, you know?

Yeah, but try making that comic set in Bolivia in the 70's. The difficulty making it believable increases exponentially.

Thinking about setting one adventure of Johnny Bullet in Bolivia just opens up a world of stories and possibilities. The crazy things I could play with, like drag racing in the Andes! The fun I would have!!

I've a long list of stories that I've written or worked on that I would like to make into comics, but most likely will not, how I used to settled on the series I would draw out instead of others was with the 'I don't like this story as much as THIS story, so I'm going to draw the one I don't like as much first, so that when I'm finished it and get to work on the one I DO like I'll have all this drawing experience and it will look GREAT!' mindset. I don't do that anymore because you quickly learn after starting webcomics that they actually take up a whole lot of time and release much too slowly... so you don't want to work on the series you're half interested in instead of the one you really want to work on because you may never actually get to it depending on the length and release schedule.

My biggest limit setting thing right now is my health, writing wise I don't often write stories with a real world 'time and location' base, and the one that I have is very much a location and timeline that I am familiar with because I lived it. I mostly just do the 'make up a entirely new world or version of our world with some things loosely based off it if' thing.

Though I do understand your reluctance and not wanting to misrepresent such things. Nothing worse than watching your culture completely butchered and misrepresented on some American movie/show/comic...

personally I'm ok with writing a comic that I don't know too much about, well, at least in my circumstance. The one I'm working on currently is about the singing industry and singing itself, however, I purposefully don't want it to be confined to how the industry would work in real life. Other series which involve show biz like skip beat, full moon wo sagashite, and kirarin revolution don't really follow how it would work in real life either, and to be honest, I feel like that's what made me like those series. The product would be completely different if they tried to make the situations realistic, but in the end, I guess it's whatever end product you want with your series. I just wouldn't be happy with my comic if I confined it to reality, but if you want your comic to be realistic, I completely understand where you're coming from.

There's a comic I'm planning on making after my current one, but I don't really know much about the stuff that I want to have go on in it. I dunno much about guns clips or any war stuff. Definelty not the formula to make a nuclear warhead.

I have a very big cast of yakuza characters kicking around in my head, but as I derive at least 75% of my knowledge about the yakuza from fiction, and the remaining 25% is a mix of Wikipedia-articles and minor mentions in actual non-fiction books on organized crime, I don't feel anywhere near confident enough to do much with them. I've done a silly oneshot on the edge of this fictional universe, but that's as far as I think I'll ever go.

They're just going to stay in my head, where I can do silly things with them that isn't going to bother anyone else. They're mostly an excuse to occasionally scribble characters with really cool tattoos in my sketchbook anyway. XD

One comic I want to try to make, it always sits at the back of my mind is a reboot of my first comic "Darkness Within". I have all the tools, skills and knowledge to make it better than the first one. Based on how I made it back in 2006 it would become a Battle Shounen. I have nothing against the genre but, you need like a million characters to keep building on to the protagonist's power level. All those characters would overwhelm me now and characters will start losing their individuality the more you expand the cast, well this is what happens to me anyways.

The comic I am current working Seishin Patona has the fighting I want without having a million characters because they adventure the land and deal with politics. If I were to remake Darkness Within today it would most likely not be how I first envisioned it as a teen but, something more deep and meaningful. (There will definitely be fighting though)

My stories are a whole lot more different now than they where years ago. and a lot better too haha! Spiral of Nightmares and Ephemeral Happiness are my current ones, that have a lot more depth in them in comparison to my earlier stories. it's also because I have a whole lot more experience now than when I was a kid.

I'm perfectly fine with not getting back to them. They just wouldn't work with my current form of story telling.

3) A 9 page comic about Wolverine and Doop fighting zombies (not online anymore)
4) A 670 page comic about a crazy group of college kids, about 620 on Bitstrips
5) A 93 page comic about a red pixel and blue pixel arguing about stuff (not online anymore)
6) A 208 page comic about a squire and princess trying to save a kingdom from a ruthless villain

Over 50 undrawn scripts on my computer
Over 600 semi-fleshed-out ideas on my computer

I have come to accept that i will not draw MOST of the stuff i have ideas for, and just spend my time on the ones that seem the most fun.

Some times I think i'd like to try and make a deep intriguing mystery drama series... but then I remember that that's not my style and I am terrible at stuff like that. Everything I'd make would come out campy and hella juvenile. I stick to what I like best and can actually think thing up for. Light-hearted fantasy~
Also, I'd probably never draw a porno comic.

The comic I want to do right now, but cant is my TOY story- sci-fi story about a rogue cybernetic assassin. THAT would be the story that I would take "forever" to pencil & ink a page, coz I want the art to be on point. It probably will happen, but I know it's going to be some years down the road.

If there were 2 of me, I'd draw it in a heartbeat.
