I learned to read with Peanuts comic strips. I could draw Snoopy and Woodstock before I could write.

It was Berke Breathed's BLOOM COUNTY that really fired me up though.
Doonesbury is still riveting and ages very well.
Jim Unger's Herman STILL gives me belly laughs. Strangely, I prefer his work in B/W format.
Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes will forever be my first love.

Yeah dude. My first comic ever read was Calvin and Hobbes. Growing up I loved Garfield, Peanuts, and Far Side.

For the ones that inspired me to create my own comics:
Calvin and Hobbes, Adventures of Tintin, Gon, One Piece, Dragonball, The Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-man (by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley) just a wide variety.

If nursery picture storybooks not counting, I think Doraemon is the first comic(manga) series i ever read-- if my memory's correct.

Which inspired me to draw one? The catalyst is 90s Sonic cartoons, with other infleunces from various cartoons and mangas. (big bother's violent mangas)

I've read a lot of manga that I can't even remember what I read first so I can't say anything about that.

What inspired me to draw, though, is not a manga. It's a mangaka! His name is Boichi, the mangaka of Dr. Stone. I'm a fan of Dr. Stone and I really liked the artstlye so I tried searching about him. Then, I saw that he has a YouTube Channel! (Boichibetoon) He posts videos of him drawing while giving advices to some of his viewers. The way he draw is really amazing! It's almost hypnotising. I watched all his videos, grabbed a pen and paper, and started practicing drawing. Then boom! The next thing I know, I'm creating a comic.

The first comic I read was probably Garfield, but the one that got me into comics was the X-Men comics in the 90's! I felt a bond with these mutant folks being outcasts and still trying to be heroes. The comic that made the biggest impact on me and kickstarted a shift in how and what I make was Sophie Campbell's the Abandoned comic. I was captivated from the start with the simple but bombastic cover alone. Really changed how I thought about who should or could be the leads of a story and what they could look like.

my first comic was naruto in middle school and I guess it was my inspiration too because I've wanted to make comics ever since. as far as comics that inspire me these days though it's stuff like one piece, zatch bell, chainsaw man, and jujutsu kaisen, I'm a sucker for a well done shonen.

Calvin and Hobbes is one of my firsts too, and still one of my favorites. The art, in addition to his razor wit. Looking at Bill Watterson's art now, I'm still just as impressed by it as when I was 10. It wasn't some formulaic cartoon character drawing, his strips with dinosaurs for example were testaments to his high level of skill with a brush.

For my inspiration I've gotta cite Hellboy (of course), and The Adventure Zone podcast, which later got turned into a comic so it still counts heheheh.

Pretty sure my first comic was Topolino... which would be the Italian name for Mickey Mouse XD (one thing that will never cease to amaze me is how apparently Mickey comics are waaaaaaaay bigger here in Italy than they are in the US? No, seriously, we have a TON of Mickey/Donald themed comic books and series, Topolino being just the most famous and longest running one).

Both Topolino and the W.i.t.c.h. comics were my biggest inspirations to draw and write my own comics. My favorite artists were Giorgio Cavazzano and Paolo Campinoti for Mickey comics and Alessandro Barbucci and Daniela Vetro for W.i.t.c.h.. I was also a big fan of series such as X Mickey (...did I mention that we have a ton of Mickey-inspired series? XD) and Monster Allergy, also by Disney.
I already mentioned it once, but I actually did try to get hired by Disney Italy... alas, it didn't go well, but that still didn't stop me from making comics (and, in a way, I prefer it that way: I get to tell the stories I want at the pace that I want, which... wouldn't have really been possible when working for such a big company).

I cannot remember the first I read but Kishimoto's Naruto is the earliest series I remember deeply getting into

Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet by Nozmo really made me want to write one instead of just consume, mainly cos it introduced me to the indie self publishing scene

The first comics I remember really reading were the ones that came in issues of Ranger Rick. Also Far Side, since my parents are big fans of it.

The ones that inspired me to make my own were probably Girl Genius and +Anima.

The first comic ever ever was Bamse! I still love how the art looks, it's ridiculously cute ^^

But that was when I was really small, after that I picked up comic reading upon finding W.I.T.C.H. in 2003 and it was the only comic I've read before getting a PC two years later and getting some scanned manga from my friends.
When it comes to comics that made me "I want to draw comics", they definitely were Angel Sanctuary and RG Veda, damn they looked amazing

Earliest comics that I can remember reading as a kid were like peanuts in the sunday funnies but the driving inspiration wound up being the sonic comics, official and fanmade, that I'd read online. Others that played a part would probably be the arina tanemura manga volumes my high school library had (gentlemen's alliance and full moon) and a handful of webcomics I'd read during my early years on Tapas(tic). I could go into a long long list of inspirations from Tapas alone but it'd be easier to just link my reading list and point to some of the pages way in the back (40s-50s)

I will say my list of inspos is ever growing so while there's a lot I have just here on Tapas there's like tons more I could go on and on about for ages
