Oh you are right, I should too since you are all sharing ! Thank you !

Well...
I had three individual student animated short films where my core ideas were Fantasy (in the meaning of "imagination", not the literary genre) in a story about growing up while keeping a creative mind and heart, Difference in a story about conformism and individuality, and Crossing in a story about facing your fears and entry in the professional world, so again, growing up.

To be honest, starting this thread was also the opportunity to encourage myself to find the word for my long time comic project I keep rewriting again and again but never succeed at taking the risk of sharing it. So... I believe Deliverance could fit to what I want to talk about in this story. I think it is about meeting yourself, becoming aware of what you are and learning being more considerate to yourself.

So... here you go ! My "one word ideas":sparkling_heart:

To abscond.

ennui probably fits it best

If I had to sum up my story in one word, it would be closure. (And since “letting go” is two words )

For my main characters, they’ll have to learn (the hard way) that holding on to things from their past will harm them more in the long run. And that’s for family, friends, past relationships, and anything that impedes on them moving on with their lives and being happy.

Sometimes we latch onto things that harm us because we’ve either clung to past “good” memories or have spent a long time with them (or a person). Also, when we lose someone (or are forced to part from them), we don’t get closure and chase answers we know deep down may never come or be what we want to hear.

That’s the main takeaway I want my readers to have by the end. We don’t always get the closure we think we deserve or need and that’s okay. Find your own closure in situations and learn to be at peace.

Gotta go with death

It is quite literal as the main character is murdered. She is resurrected in the body of a shigroi and now leaves a trail of death wherever she goes for the idea of vengeance.

Synergy

I kinda hate that word because it is used often in corporate mumbo jumbo. But it describes the two lead characters, their abilities, and their relationship well.

I would describe my story as Ikagai

Meaning: Reason for living/ Life’s purpose. Ikiru means to live, and gai means to want to do something, so this word is literally your motivation to live. Everyone’s ikigai is different – for some people, it is their family, or pet, or job, or hobby.

My sorry is still in the works, but hopefully in a few months I can post the first chapter!

I'm the worst at making a proper summary, so just describing it with one word is surely a challenge :sweat_02:!
It will be filled with several hardships that the main characters will have to overcome. So maybe Prevail will be a good word, a verb that they will hopefully be able to meet :blusht: !

other people out here with beautiful impressive comments I'm like: "Eyepatch." Next question.

Haha yeah you'r right "the one word", I hesitated xD
I didn't use it because I think there can be multiple themes in a story, as such as multiple narrative registers

Haha thank you for sharing ! I saw your story was in "comedy" genre, it is as legitimate as the other literary genres ! Comedy can turn out to be a pretty serious / difficult deal to write and carries meaning and purpose as well
And if you want to nitpick about it and search for a "hidden meaning" or something, "Eyepatch" is an interesting word to go with as the other words people shared (for "eyepatch" : eyes, sense of sight, half of vision, hiding, secret, shadow, mystery... or just the object eyepatch if you do not want to search deep into this, you'r not forced to x'D).

You know what, I never thought about it but we are getting DEEP in this sunday morning thread! Remind me, what was yours? I'll get deep if you will.

I love the comedy genre. If I ever leave it will be kicking and screaming. Romance is fun but better when things are stupid. I get a lot of comments on my story like "your MC is such a baby and an idiot" and it fills me with joy. Yes, they are so dumb. Wait until you see what stupid thing I make them do next.

Wow I did not meant to be insensitive, believe me ! If I said something bad, I am sorry.
I love the comedy genre as well, it has a special place in my heart and can be used in so many ways.
The word for the project I am currently working on would be "Deliverance".

Can I say... Ugh!

It’s not really a word, just a stroppy teenager noise, but I’ll go with that.

It's a bit difficult to get it down to one word, as one word can't possibly encompass all the crap some characters have to go through, but...

For Red Knight, that one word would be Betrayal
For Take a Hike, I think that word would be Destined
