The Sketch a Day Thread!

Google searches mainly. Also I've got a couple friends that have sources too. Plus I spread my work around on different platforms besides tapas, which often have different contests going. (Namely Art Street. They have multiple contests running every month)

For Google searches I input "Comic contests 2022" or "manga contests 2022" something along that lines. Basically...I am not passive in how opportunities find me. I look for them, even if the searches sound on the nose...it's usually productive.

Still just kinda making up the assignment. Probably give obliques another few days with trying to add some review of the older material since it's been months .

Quick pose sketches one to two minutes.
I used to draw only naked poses but after a while it gets really annoying because
the models always stand around in the weirdest poses. I get the point, it´s easier to learn
the landmarks and see the anatomy but drawing people with clothes on just gives you more
"natural" poses. Except when you sketch sex scenes, people sleeping or sunbathing etc
because that´s when people are naked. The typical life drawing poses are just really annoying
after a while. Some of you guys maybe know what I mean

Woof. Looks like not much for this year, since it's already August. Ah well. Will keep a look out next year. Zines are more fun though, since no competition is involved. Forgot about the ones I did years ago, should probably call upon my group again to do some more!

Was waiting around for Artstation's challenge for months now, got busy with work and couldn't check every f-ing day, then missed it. Really wish they had a newsletter and emailed members about when challenges start. I think I'll send them an email or tweet about that to see if they'll do anything about it.

@LCT_m_a_d thanks very much! They're stressful to draw for that reason but at least for sketches using a soft "oily" brush seems to help.

Missing structured classes with a helpful teacher, fighting with Unreal Engine while watching random youtube videos to find ways to hack things together while I know there must be a better way is slowly driving me mad. Maybe someday .

Finally working on storyboarding that AMV I always told myself I’d start and then never did. Bought a new sketchbook today that I’m only gonna use for storyboards and the occasional character design roughs and everything. Here’s the first page:

I finished one flat coloring commission and will do more next week. Flat coloring is exhausting,
especially when you do it for 8 hours a day. Good thing is that you get really fast that way.
Got another pencil/ink/color page commission.
I haven´t heard anything from the comic page contest that I took part in, the dead line was 3 days ago.
100% convinced that I will win, I´ll not be sad when I don´t but I don´t like the waiting part.

Tomorrow I will have my first show as a singer and I´ll also play lead guitar now because the guitar player
broke his leg. I´m not really a guitar player, I play rhythm guitar and I´m an upright bassplayer normally.
Fake it till you make it and I´ll just pretend to be really good

Here are 10 one-two minute sketches. I will try to 100 in a short amount of time, maybe in one day.
They are not very precise but it´s the best practice for figure drawing imo

My flesh and bones.... a refurbished redraw? I got this song again in the shuffle and boi it hit me hard, so I guess I just gave Heilang an actual purpose in the story, say whaaaaaat!
I guess I need to make all the golden parts bigger though
