Quoting myself here cause I just thought of this...
Hearing about the old-fashionedness about the new website layout (irony) was making me think about my Website and the wordpress theme I used...Which changes depending on the size of the screen.
So on a wide desk-top monitor, you would see a sidebar and a top level menu + header, while on a narrower screen, like tablet or mobile, the sidebar becomes an button you can slide out to see options and the menu becomes a drop down.
This allows for comfortable viewing on a desktop monitor and mobile phone at the same time because it is based on the resolution of the browser itself. That is responsive and is what a lot of websites/portfolios are doing NOW.
...So this new tapas layout, especially compared to the old one, is actually more outdated because it's not as responsive and feels very clunky.
I understand that mobile is important but responsiveness and usability on MULTIPLE platforms should be up there on the priority list.
