I find the new navigation way worse, but that can be personal preferences.

But removing the yellow/black colour scheme is an extremely surprising decision. It's what made Tapas recognisable.
I even a few times said something like 'you know, the yellow/black website' to people who asked me my main site, because the name 'tapas' did not ring a bell, BUT yellow and black, yep, they know what we's taking about.

It's very...white. xD It does feel a lot more like a Webtoons clone and gives me some SJ vibes. The site now feels very empty, like there's a lot of space not being utilized. The previous layout had some of that too, but I think the banners and colors filled it in mentally. I do think the removal of the yellow was a bad decision. It definitely made the site more unique, but also more fun and welcoming. Every comic site now is black and white, which just makes me feel like, "Why am I here? It feels so depressing and serious. I thought comics were supposed to be fun?" Just the impression I get.

My only other issue right now is comic navigation. While I liked the infinite scrolling, I'm okay with that leaving. But the popup navigation and the extra click to see all the pages is annoying, much more the former than the latter. More than half the time I can't get the nav to pop up. I'm not sure why it can't just stay on? I don't think it breaks any sort of immersion or is distracting. What IS distracting is it randomly popping up when you don't intend it to or you having to dick around to get it to show up at all.

I honestly hate it. My timing is terrible-yesterday I updated my main comic's visuals (banner and donate button) and now I cannot even see them on the page, and it is much less intuitive to navigate and barely feels like the same website, not to mention the lack of visual indicators of whose comic you are viewing. Maybe have a layout option to toggle instead of forcing everyone to have this new (less appealing to me) layout?
It's driving me nuts.

I understand your pain, it's 2-3 days away from mine. If it helps any, when you post links to anywhere, it actually shows the banner still; but that might be an oversight(which considering the shitty quality of this update does not susprise me).

I can understand pop-ups on a mobile 'phone screen, where space is at a premium. But for desktops? No excuse for all that blank space.

Quoting myself here cause I just thought of this...

Hearing about the old-fashionedness about the new website layout (irony) was making me think about my Website and the wordpress theme I used...Which changes depending on the size of the screen.

So on a wide desk-top monitor, you would see a sidebar and a top level menu + header, while on a narrower screen, like tablet or mobile, the sidebar becomes an button you can slide out to see options and the menu becomes a drop down.

This allows for comfortable viewing on a desktop monitor and mobile phone at the same time because it is based on the resolution of the browser itself. That is responsive and is what a lot of websites/portfolios are doing NOW.

...So this new tapas layout, especially compared to the old one, is actually more outdated because it's not as responsive and feels very clunky.

I understand that mobile is important but responsiveness and usability on MULTIPLE platforms should be up there on the priority list.

Plus, with the app censorship fiasco, making an attractive, easy to navigate WEBsite should be a priority.
I'm pretty sure we were assured there would be steps taken to help visibility of censored comics showing only on the website. It looks like the contrary is happening....

I've said this a few times, but there seems to be an odd belief that people only use 'phones for the internet nowadays. I still use a laptop/desktop because I cannot scan and edit comics on a 'phone and I'd be impressed if anyone could. Plus I want to see stuff bigger!

I prefer to write on a desktop and keyboard...hell a lot of authors still use type writers because of the feel of hitting each key and the click (I use a mechnical keyboard and the 'tap tap' is satisfying to hear).

Webcomic artist DRAW on a big screen. I draw on a BIG screen cause it's easier and gives me a lot of room. Even if one uses a tablet or drawing monitor to make art, those screens are gonna be BIGGER than a freaking phone!

I just...I really don't get this odd belief either. Especially when there are so many ways and so many themes and CSS layouts that mitigate this very issue already!

It's kinda ok eh. It looks so similar to webtoons that I thought I was on the wrong website and I'm not too thrilled that my banner's gone. Thumbnails are supposed to be replaced with book covers, but I'm not sure when that's coming to play.

What the...? That's right. It's all gone, except for the " ". And the font's a sans-serif instead of the eye pleasing Serif.
Do we have to upload all the episodes again? This is nuts!

If it's in the beta stage...then it should've been on a mirror server...or there should be a button saying "Heyo, check out the new layout! Give feedback".

I mean...at least DeviantArt did that with Eclipse and they still have the old layout as an option...
