The tapas 'new look' poll

I prefer to write on a desktop and keyboard...hell a lot of authors still use type writers because of the feel of hitting each key and the click (I use a mechnical keyboard and the 'tap tap' is satisfying to hear).

Webcomic artist DRAW on a big screen. I draw on a BIG screen cause it's easier and gives me a lot of room. Even if one uses a tablet or drawing monitor to make art, those screens are gonna be BIGGER than a freaking phone!

I just...I really don't get this odd belief either. Especially when there are so many ways and so many themes and CSS layouts that mitigate this very issue already!

It's kinda ok eh. It looks so similar to webtoons that I thought I was on the wrong website and I'm not too thrilled that my banner's gone. Thumbnails are supposed to be replaced with book covers, but I'm not sure when that's coming to play.

I do! My entire work is on my phone only!

New look is shite! Terrible UX, just generally horribly unintuitive! Not sure if I'm just blind but it seems the scrool to next page function has been taken out...

Stuff is unreadable!!!

What the...? That's right. It's all gone, except for the " ". And the font's a sans-serif instead of the eye pleasing Serif.
Do we have to upload all the episodes again? This is nuts!

If it's in the beta stage...then it should've been on a mirror server...or there should be a button saying "Heyo, check out the new layout! Give feedback".

I mean...at least DeviantArt did that with Eclipse and they still have the old layout as an option...

Yeah. It's modern. Simple. No clutter. But everyone is of course entitled to their opinion. I like it. ^^

@eleoza I'm both, reader and creator. I've joined Tapas actively in... March? 2019. And always found navigating a bit tedious.

I like it too, mostly because I've been on the site for years and honestly got kinda tired of the old look (as much as I was attached to it emotionally)

That said, there are some really good comments here regarding making the 'white' less harsh for accessibility, the subscribe button being hidden, the continued scroll being gone and so on. I feel like that's great feedback that could be implemented.

I'm not too concerned, since it's been just a few hours and the dev team will probably have some long days ahead of them.

Banners were a great idea, but I put bitly links on them to track the click through rate and I have to be honest, nobody clicked them : ( Maybe my banners were just bad, but I had a few thousand readers on my comic, so you would expect more interaction.

With them not being on mobile, a large part of your readership won't even get to see them as Jack correctly states. I understand why the Tapas team considered removing them.

But I also understand that people are sad to see them go. They were pretty neat, just not as essential to success as one may think.

I agree i actulley like most of the changes and yeah i did the same and thats why i stopped.

The home page is really nice now. Apart from the mascot logo gone and the colors.
And it seems like the extra clicking steps have allowed them to put more Ads in places so maybe higher Ad Rev?
You can go to comments easier and the sorting of comments is a lot better.

The things that i think they shuld add is it Right next to the like button at the end they should have Subscribe and support for ink.
