Is there anything you enjoy drawing lately? Like, maybe something new, that you didn't like or just didn't draw before? I am sitting here drawing a lot of characters in full height, so there are a lot of shoes and suddenly they are so much fun to draw

I have very little practice drawing shoes in fact. I'd imagine they'd be fun once you get the major shapes down.

So the gist of The Vince Colletta Solution goes like this...

Collette was an American inker on a bunch of famous Marvel Comics. Not the greatest inker for superhero books. The techniques he developed doing romance books weren't really great for inking over greats like Jack Kirby but he was a guy with a reputation for being quick. If a book was running late, they gave it to him...in the industry it was known as The Vince Colletta Solution.

It wasn't until decades later the public found out why he was "quick".

Dude was just erasing stuff he didn't want to ink, filling textured areas with flat blacks...in general ruining everything the penciller had intended.

So...the question is...How often do you Vince Colletta your own work? Or Colletta someone else's script when you draw it?

My inks are way different than my pencils. Sometimes the pose or expression completely changes. Usually it's adding details as opposed to simplifying them though.
I actually get embarrased sometimes on instagram since I try to share the drawing phases.

I like your art, but find it hard to read sometimes. I know it is a style and it is distinct as it is but just have the urge to add more outlines.

Your inks having different qualities than your own pencils is WAY different from inking someone else (a comics legend no doubt) work and taking cheap short cuts though.

This is genius I don't really use a lot of black, just pure lining and a teeny tiny bit of more black in most dark areas. Using this amount of black in shadows is a mystery to me, the one I have to learn how to do
Overall I definitely try not to cut corners and like @LCT_m_a_d end up with a more detailed thing It's a bad habit for me though, because I am slow and I need to learn to cut corners, I just don't know how to do it
