Hey guys, do you have any tips on how to balance working on your comic so that you can get good quality, but also keep a good pace? Especially if you have a deadline? (It's for the Tezuka Contest.)

(Also, what are your sketches like before you ink them? I'm trying to find a good balance between a good sketch and also making sure not to waste too much time on that as well.)

It depends really, but usually something like pics in the middle =)

No problems I guess the main thing is to put all the important parts on their places, without too much details. I know some artists have really tidy sketches that look 99,5% like the final art (maybe it would suit you more too), but I'm a mess

I hate it when I don't feel motivated to draw until like an hour before going to bed... and then not being able to sleep because I'm so amped up from drawing

Its pretty common to get the greater ideas of something with a little distance and out of focus on the details. Regular little walk to the shop or into the park - also good for getting the blood flowing again. Humans have been bonobo-style walking stuff collectors most of their existence, anyway - and its good for finding ideas as well, for what I experienced. Of course pen and paper are placed in the critical places - pocket, next to the bed/sofa, next to the shower - especially the shower! XD
