honestly it just sounds like "hey no big shounen manga have been released that can widespread capture audiences so let's just recycle stuff like disney is doing and make it THE DECADE OF REMAKES"
heavy eye rolling
to be fair im certain bleach is a rip off of yu yu and SK soooo lol
whereas other shows that shouldve gotten attention didnt, like K Project and StarDriver. and Tsuritama. BUT WHAT DO I KNOW?
i had a student at my work try to convince me that one piece was good and im like, yeah it's as good as pokemon - it's episodic and full of arcs. just like other "for the masses" series's. nothing wrong with that. but that doesn't make it a work of art.
i actually just had a friend who has burned through all of his normal stuff to watch ask me about anime and how he couldnt get into it, and i told him a few movies to watch and how they're different and better than 99% of the crap "regular anime fans" will tell him to watch/recommend. e_e but that's what happens when you study story structure/ect in upper division classes. [it's why movie series like MCU have largely bored me. entertaining for one watch.]
edit: which reminds me when i see him next i should tell him to watch Steamboy. one of the few anime movies that got a decently good dub (as in good VA work and good translations)
