I think it makes perfect sense for @HGohwell to mention stunt women. They're the ones doing the big action sequences in movies and are a great frame of reference when considering how to dress fictional characters for certain genres.

Take Wonder Woman for example. The women were almost all wrestlers and mma fighters. While their armor kept the tropes to a minimum (ie tons of skin/cleavage etc) the women (who fight for a living) found them harder to move in in comparison to the more skin showy armor in the Justice League movie.

As artists, we should take from real life, and do all the time, to make a believable fictional reality.

I would choose stilettos, if I where in a situation where I needed to fight with no noticeable weapon. Those things can kill someone. Knocked them down and step on their chest with all your body wait, bam dead bad guy. Or take them off and stab them in the eye. Then wipe off the blood and go back to the party and act surprised when they find the dead body, lol.

And high heels! Why must the women always have high heels! I love high heels but they are not suitable for action or even many job situations.

I feel like so many women characters are designed by thirsty straight men and it shows.

It should be noted that the wide majority of straight men, thirsty or not, don't care about what a woman wears on her feet. You're talking about a specific niche sub-audience.

Which is often the case with sexual visual stimuli's in straight males. They're much less unified than is widely generalized.

First of all, maro eyebrows on pets look really cute

And second of all, eyebrows are an important part of anthropomorphic emoting. There are lots of expressions that you simply can't do without them. Take it from someone who decided to mimic an art style that didn't technically include eyebrows, and thus ended up having to try to avoid drawing them for 2 years: it gets REALLY annoying after a while. Eventually you end up having to draw in features that approximate them, at least part of the time.

I would assume that you're not including non-realistic situations where animals would actually make those expressions in your complaint...but I thought I'd just say the reason why anyhow.

Hmmm I'm trying to think of character design tropes in anime that I always find amusing but not necessarily bad. Like for Shonen anime the main character usually has bright colored hair that's spikey, and his foil rival has dark hair (usually black) that lays more flat because he's emo and cool.

A trend that I dislike in romance webcomics is that all the lead guys or male love interests aren't very manly. Like I don't mind the abs, but none of them have any body hair or facial hair - not even a little stubble. And they're all freakishly tall and lean, almost feminine xD

I can't stand the K-POP BL look. The "BTS boy group" look is what I call it, and sooo many korean comics style the dudes like this. They all look like women with short hair to me lol

One of my Oc`s from my comic is a parody of the "sexy female villain" and heels would fit the archetype, but i didnt gave her heels just in case someone gets to cosplay her. (so instead got her some fancy boots)

I researched about the negative effects of wearing heels for an university project, and after reading how harmful they are, decided to take that into account.

and even if it`s just for a day in a comic-con or something, at least it may be more comfortable to them.

I mean historically, they did.... Pretty sure the reason we don't do that in media is just prudishness/fear of bouncing dongs!

I think it's worth pointing out HG isn't saying female knights should all be running around in heels and skirts, just that in some stories it is not necessarily impractical.

And as a fan of Outlander, I am currently all in favor of men fighting in "skirts". I wouldn't mind a woman dressed similarly if it made sense in context.

One could also argue that tunics are also "skirts", but as long as you can make it make sense in the setting, there is no reason to question a male character`s masculinity because of it.

To be very clear I'm using the word skirt because the actual discussion is of women's clothing. There's nothing inherently degrading about the word skirt. Kilts are awesome, and I am being very genuine in saying they're a good example of someone fighting in an equivalent outfit that is practical and historically accurate.

the literal idea is that regardless of gender, cloth wrapped around the waist can be a practical and realistic outfit for people engaging purposefully in a fight/battle.

I’m tired of half-assed Steven Universe style art, or what is commonly known as the “Tumblr Style”. Including red noses, blob like characters, horrible color palettes that are blinding (and this is coming from someone who uses bright color palettes), permanent sunburned faces / cheeks, “fat” being the only body type considered “realistic”, no variation in line weight, characters wearing pride flag paraphernalia, things like that.

My comic pretty much includes busty sexy women in impractical revealing outfits and high heels. I kinda get annoyed when people write off those designs as just something straight horny men dream up... because I’m a straight horny woman, I just like drawing sexy busty women. Plus I’m busty and I hate it when busty characters are ONLY fanservice or are treated like a joke / punchline or put down by smaller chested women / treated like a bimbo, or are treated like all they are is sexy and lack the personality that the small chested heroine of the story has. I like my busty ladies to be treated like people who are seen as attractive / sexy but that isn’t all there is to them. Also I like super cute impractical outfits that look like Haute Couture shit - like the kinda shit Female Castanics wear in TERA (and some Male Castanics as well since they’re just Like That).
