Thought This Video About AI-Art Was Interesting

This is probably the most balanced, respectful, and level-headed responses I've seen on AI Art and misplaced aggression. This guy talks about the dangers on AI Animation while also bringing up some benefits. He's also pretty funny. His advice on protesting to people who don't care is also really, REALLY fascinating.

I don't think his humor is for everyone, but I still think he's worth listening to.

I'm sorry, I had to stop when he started insulting people who criticized being upset by this.

1) Corridor Crew is a computer graphics studio who makes YouTube videos. I haven't watched their video but knowing them, they like having a challenge when it comes to CGI. The techniques they used are not necessary accessible to everyone. Even if you are an indie studio who can pay for the same assets, it still requires some knowledge in film and CG to do what they do on their show.

2) Corridor has a bad history of jumping on trends, they were very pro-NFTs and my guess is they are just riding the AI bandwagon. At the end of the day, they are content creators.

3) This doesn't look like an anime. It looks like a crappy film with a filter over it. It would suck if nice looking animation gets replaced with crap like this.

Where did you stop? Because he brings up a lot of the stuff about how Corrrider could've handled it. Specifically towards the end where he talks about big businesses taking advantage of all this, how Corrider should make an obligation in crediting art, how this could screw over indie studios, etc.

He also says he still respects Mother's Basement and encourages people to still watch his video.

He was saying that people who disliked the video are just whiny thick rim glasses nerds on social media. WTF does that even mean???? I dunno, if he had something worth saying, why be so rude about it.

The second section of the video is him saying how he's afraid of AI and he did say he agreed with a lot of what Mother's Basement had to say. He just didn't like his tactics (the air quotes, how he misused Corridor's clips, etc.). Scamboli has a lot of respect for Mother's Basement since he's an "OG" (like he says at the end of the video).

He likes to screw around with people he respects (especially when you look at his Discord).

But honestly if he didn't have anything worth saying, I wouldn't be posting it here since I don't like posting essays UNLESS they have truth in them.

OK, I tried to watch more and NOPE. Mother's Basement has 100% right to be upset. He doesn't see this as art, he has the right to think that. Saying "but YouTubers steal screenshots from anime so it's OK", no it's not the same. Reviewers using clips and screenshots are protected under fair use.

He doesn't say it's okay, he makes a point to distinguish YouTube with AI. I dunno, maybe get through the bit where he talks about technology being creepy before jumping to conclusions? There's even a segment about the reaction you're giving. Btw he talks about how he wants the photos AI use to be PURLEY public domain instead of being used by small creators. Again, I wouldn't be sharing a video like this if he'd be shilling or saying stuff like that.

OH SHOOT. Yeah forgot that bit. My bad. As for the second thing... He just mentions JKR being transphobic and her being dead in the eyes of the public. He doesn't support her. He talks about why people bought the game. Just like.... look man. The first thing was a bit iffy, I'll agree, but you skipping around the video and making random claims is pretty bad WHEN the person ends up addressing the stuff you have problems with SECONDS LATER. This type of mentality is unhealthy. Maybe just... I dunno... finish the video if you wanna make a response? If you don't want to continue it, that's fine, but what you're doing is very childish. The world doesn't benefit when people are seeing red all the time.

Like holy hell the beginning was garbage. If a scientific paper started this bad it would be reject outright with no consideration to the """"better""" points later one.

I don't know why me disagreeing with him is being childish. He defended Hogwarts Legacy and people posting AI art and he is making fun of people voicing their opinions against them, acting like they are being whiney kids, thick glasses nerds, or people who like to dye their hair (because heaven forbid people like dyed hair). Maybe these types of things doesn't effect him, so he doesn't really feel as strongly against them.

Also, why is he using the r-slur?

You disagreeing with him isn't childish. You jumping around the video out of context and making comments out of impatience because you "can't stand him" is childish.

At least @Freemints30 finished the video or I assumed they did. They were sly enough not to mention it. If they didn't like it they didn't like it. Simple as. I can respect the way they made their comment. You on the other hand are spreading misinformation by openly admitting to skipping around the video. I don't like that and I think that's something a lot of people can agree is a bad habit to have. Especially when you do it again with your previous statment.

For example;

1) He didn't defend Hogwarts Legacy. He brought up why people bought it. In fact, he was shocked that it sold more than Elden Ring.

2) You're blowing the white people bit and the dye hair bit out of proportion. Especially the dye hair bit after he was calling out alt-right racists before he went onto the JK section. And even then it was a small image. I posted this YouTuber here because their views lie in the middle and make fun of both sides. If you're being sensitive about one side, then maybe you shouldn't go headstrong in comment sections like this.

3) That bit I dunno. It isn't childish to think him casually using it is dumb. I agree with you, but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of the stuff he says I do agree with. Which is why I posted the video here.

If you're not going to be mature then I don't think we should be continuing this conversation because personally, it's getting exhausting. Why do we do this everytime we disagree man? C'mon. It's getting old. I'm only being so hard on you because you constantly go around the forums correcting people. I think if you're going to continue doing that, then I might as well call you out on behavior like this.

I watched the whole thing. I just don't think it's a well made video. Me disliking the video is not me attacking you as a person.

There are issues with AI beyond just legal stuff. I am worried that companies like Disney, which has a huge library of content could use AI to pump out more low grade stuff. Especially since they have no respect for dead actors when it comes to using their likeness in their Star Wars films.

If you don't think it's a well-made video, then I can respect that. AI is obviously a touchy subject and I believe Corridor got a lot of hate. Were the criticisms valid? Yes. But I never approved of the approach Mother's Basement took I agree with your statements about Disney in particular. I've never liked the idea of people using dead actors like you say. It's disrespectful to their spirits.

As for you attacking me as a person, it's alright. I'm just annoyed I have to set the record straight for the sake of public image. If you had said what you said to me now or did something like mints, this conversation would've never happened. But since you put quotes out of context, you run the risk of me sounding like a bigot. I was on full "SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT! LET ME EXPLAIN!" mode.

I already got crap from people on the site last year from posting edgy stuff and I stopped. Hell, I thought about not posting this video! But then I've seen a lot of comments get liked who say what this guy is saying (granted in another fashion)... so I said "... Eh... why not...". It may sound silly, but I thought AT LEAST artists should hear what he's bringing to the table even if he is an edgy person (I put a warning up when you pointed out the slur instead of taking the link down because I still think this video has a lot to say).

Anyway, yeah. I'm not attacking you as a person either. You have good intentions and I can respect that.

Like I said earlier, I am a little concerned about Corridor Crew due to their past videos. I did used to like them because I like film production and animation. They did make a pro-NFT video and this is not their first time making a pro-AI video. Like there have a video where they motion captured a dead person's face onto someone's body for a music video. They are probably doing this because it's the hot topic.
