@aqua03 That sounds right up my alley, but I don't got a PS Vita! I hope it's as fun as it sounds!
@A_Toad ..Yeah, I just agree with everything you said lol but I'll take a look at that series, sounds right up my alley
@DiegoPalacios Again, agree with everything you said. Especially on the whole people without powers being just as effective. I can't really go into it now as the story's finished script-wise and there's no space to really explore it, but if I were to go back to it at a later time, this would definitely be an interesting aspect of those without this.. superpower... to delve into. (It's not called a superpower in the story, but that's what it boils down to. It's just weird to call it that lol)
As far as fighting the drawbacks, yeah, this is hardly a concern. I'd wanna make the effects as irreversible as possible, but that's not to say that characters can't learn to live with missing something. So for the leg example I gave, one option I'd explore is having him adjust to being handicapped basically, and living in a wheelchair. Another one that's kinda darker is having the character consider having their legs amputated and replacing them with prosthetic ones. This then goes into the issue of.. well that loved part of their life is kinda gone now, what happens to the power? and that'd also be interesting to develop~
@Inspector_Spinda Like I mentioned, I wanna make it as irreversible as possible, so nah, regaining that full strength in the legs is a no-go for me. As for math however.. xD I never thought of it like that, but I can come up with something lol
You'd forget it gradually until you don't know 1+1 anymore, maybe even further into not knowing what numbers are anymore.. but you'd able to relearn it eventually. Just without gaining a passion for it. Thus, you lost the thing you loved completely, and we go back to not knowing what happens with the power after (bc I haven't developed it that far yet) I had the idea of losing the concept of math as whole permanently, but.. that's a hard idea for me to imagine without thinking it's silly xD
"Ok, let's start with the basics. This is one, and this is two."
"But what do those things even mean?"
"Alright.. uhhh.. You see that orange, right?"
"Yeah."
"That's one orange!"
"Sure, but what the hell is 'one'??"
@baasinsimple Yeah, I thought about this too, but something about it felt awfully restricting, character-wise. For another story, it could definitely work, but what I have now is so attached to who the characters already are as a whole. At that point, I'd have change the powers to fit what they lose, but considering what I wanted to do, I could not come up with anything I felt was worth replacing what I had. I see where you're coming from though~
