Thread for Inktober 2018

Starting this thread as a little support group for everyone doing Inktober 2018!! ^^

Last year was the first time I did it, everyday official prompt list and everything, and I finished!... however, looking back at the drawings I did for that, boy were they crappy (0_0 )

This year I’m doing it again! And I’m going to try and make better art this time (^ ^; )

My art has improved quite a bit since last year and I’m changing tools. Last time I used pigma microns, this time I’m using dip pens!

So what are your guys thoughts on Inktober?

Feel free to post any Inktober art or prompt lists!!

This is my very first year joining actually, probably not going to draw every single day for it, but i found an interesting oc inktober prompts list that i might use when i'm not feeling inspired on my own ^^ (yeah, idk if this can be considered "joining" the event haha)

I participated last year, but my drawings weren't good, so I deleted and started fresh (blame my existantial crisis for this). My friend and I didn't follow the prompt list, we made our own by using some prompt site for the following day, so everyday we had a surprise subject to draw like, a vampire astronaut (not kidding on this one lol)

It was a fun experience, but some subjects were a challenge to came up with a good idea. I plan to participate this year again, but I'll do it on my computer this time (inktober's instagram has ps brushes for this, so I thought why not use computer instead then?)

Wow, congrats on finishing everything last year! I did a few of the prompts last year and enjoyed it. This year I'd like to try and get more of them done.

Last year was my first time doing this and somehow I made it. o.o I'm following official prompts, but I try to mix in my characters.

I'm rooting for everyone attempting this no matter if they want to do all 31 drawings or just few of them~

I think I'll be giving it another shot this year- although for me that mostly means catching up on characters I promised to draw from other people's stories (I'm actually starting to miss having time to do fan art!) I certainly don't intend to do a day-by-day detailed ink drawing marathon as I have in past years, but it will be a good excuse to take out my pens again and go back to some good old traditional inking.

P.S. Good luck to everyone else who's giving it a shot too (especially for purposes of self-improvement- good on you!)

This'll be my first year! Being an inker mainly I'll be using brushes and normal black ink. My main goal this year will be working on my character creation and making a new character with the prompt every day... It's gonna be a tough one but I'm looking forward to it

Inking can be pretty scary if you're not used to it, so go for Finished, Not Perfect.

I know I really want to do it this year, there was one year I was able to complete it fully and I want to believe I can do it again. Good luck to everyone out there!

Definitely gonna give it another go this year. Last year I did that thing where I pre-planned what I was gonna draw before Inktober began, but this time I'm gonna try actually thumbnailing the whole thing the day before the actual challenge. I find it easier to finalize a sketch than starting from scratch each time a new round begins.

What are you people's opinions on doing Inktober digitally? Is it "cheating"?

I don't think it's cheating, I'd say just go for it. Using ink can get messy and/or expensive, and I ain't one to judge, so digital ink away! I plan on using pen on paper just because I've been feeling the traditional media as of late. Though I haven't used pens in forever...

Haha my friend called me a cheater for doing it digitally, but then I said that if the official inktober shared ink brushes for Photoshop, why not doing on computer?

And in case you want to sell prints is a good go too

Yeah bois! I finally jumped on this train last year and I've got a much more focused plan for this year. I abandoned the official prompts after maybe a week last time? This year I have a personal list in mind, but I'm going to keep it flexible.

My goal is just to draw something everyday, and I definitely could use the practice. Whatever you plan on drawing, you can do it!!

I'm gonna try doing it, but unfortunately I will have to start really late (like, 2nd or 3rd week of October) because I have a lot of art stuff I have to deal with right now! I'll be using my Kuretake brush pens since I have a billion of them just lying around. lol

I‘m taking part, but I won‘t use the official list. I decided to do gijinkas (anthropomorphisations) of websites, programming languages and stuff. I probably won‘t be able to make 31 of them because October is already quite packed, but I‘ll try to draw as much as I can.
