Tips on writing a comedic comic?

Hi i'm new to the world of being a Taptastic creator I've been drawing the pages for a comic I plan to post soon,and I was wondering if any one had advice or examples on writing comedic comics,to be more specific it's going to be a comedy that's fantasy based. Since this is going to be my first I would love to hear the advice from others!

Try making a fool of characters in awkward situation. you can also look at other comics and get ideas from that and see how they do it.

Story based comedy should flow, don't force comedy into the situation.

A couple of good story based comedy comics I read include: Kenkabu!, AKIMAE, and The Masked Henchman. And because self-promotion, I make a comedy comic called Penciled. Comedy can be absurd, relatable, or unexpected. Think "could this plausibly happen in real life with some sort of real value" and if the answer is no, do that. Even for relatable comedy, you typically don't present it as is, but exaggerate it to absurdity.

Oh, hey! I'm also an author of a comedy/fantasy comic Hmm, about the tips. First you have to know what it will look like. Would it be just one episode strips? Or rather a long story with pages and chapters? When you know the form you can start to plan it. If it would be the first one then every strip should have a strong punch at the end, if the second one, then you have to remember that it can't be funny all the time. You have to give your readers a bit of rest. You can look at other comedy comics or even at comedy movies because the rules are quite similar. Also you should chose the type of you humour. I could try to give you more tips but I'd like to know more first to specify them :')

I make fantasy comedy as well. I think you need to work on the characters. Once you have developed fun, weird characters that inspire you the comedy will write itself

Snap! I've just started a comedic comic as well, B.O.O.M. (Band of Outrageous Misfits) not fantasy but weird stuff happens. I think that it's important to write what you find funny as opposed to what you think is funny. As previous people have said don't think it has to be comedy all that time. A lot of the time it's experimenting as to what funny and what isn't. Write something, leave it awhile and then come back to it. If you still laugh then it's good.

THAT'S a really good example of fantasy comedy! I love this comic so much, it's very refined instead of being joke joke joke joke joke mechanic that just throws so many jokes at the wall hoping something sticks... which is never good since that's poor comedy.

I think comedy is really difficult to write, at least good comedy, because more often than not people think comedies are meant to make you laugh out loud, much like how they think a horror is supposed to scare you silly. A good comedy is smart and intelligent, yes it should make you laugh but also make you think or hit you with something unexpected. I'd say run your comic through some people before posting and see how they receive it and then adjust your writing if you need to.

If you are making a comic which is not a gag-a-day and has a "plot", then I suggest focusing more on jokes involving a character interacting with someone or something. I think having a foolish protagonist helps with this. I think the type of thing people find the funniest is that paired with irony.

I am going to recommend avoiding memes and super topical jokes.

Something to watch out for (which people sometimes do) is using "cuteness" as a replacement for a joke or comedy. Like the whole "it's funny because it is a cute baby" or "it's funny because they are cute school girls". You can have cute characters however, them being cute should not be the "set up" for the majority of the jokes. It's not funny, just bland.
