To what extent are 'fan comics' allowed?

I've always been thinking of drawing an adaptation/fan comic/comic featuring characters from other people's works (like movies and video games) and I'm wondering so long as you express that it is indeed a FANMADE comic and in no way own the characters/story/etc of whatever is in the comic and do not claim the characters, etc as your own and make money off them like such is it acceptable on Tapastic?

As far as disclaimers go, if putting one at the top/summary/caption of your comic would work for this?
I'm hoping for it to be a non profit project anyways so I'm not extremely worried about it but especially on the line of 'adaptations' how would it go about on Tapastic?

I've been drawing a fancomic on Tapasitc for around half a year now~ It is perfectly ok to upload fancomics/doujinshi (I checked with staff beforehand). I put the disclaimer that it's a fan project in the side description as well as the very first page of the first chapter so that everyone will eventually see it. And yes, for fancomics in general, though many people make a bit of revenue off of them by selling them at cons or very small amounts online, I personally would not make revenue off of it just to steer clear of the copyright mess it could potentially make although the chances of that happening are admittedly very slim. I don't think you would be able to benefit from the revenue program here on Tapastic though because I believe that's for original content but don't quote me on that. Fan comics are totes okay here on Tapastic! HOWEVER, there are some website features you will probably not be allowed to use here on the website (but you'd have to ask staff for a better answer). As far as I know:

1.) Premium program is probably out of the question because you'd be selling content that doesn't technically belong to you.
2.) Ad revenue is also probably not allowed because you'd be making money off of content that doesn't technically belong to you.
3.) I feel like the Support program would be okay because people would be supporting you the artist, and so you're not technically making money off the stuff that doesn't belong to you, but rather for doing what you're doing as an artist, and not so much "selling" your work. This one is a bit of a grey area though :///

Again though, my answer is what I believe to be the case, but not necessarily though. I'd suggest messaging a staff member like @michaelson to answer your question a little better :3

I would've guessed that you can't really make money off something that isn't really yours xD

So assuming I were to create a comic made up of digitally altered photos of real toys such as Transformers for a story, would that be unable to make revenue? It would also be a mix of toys from different genres.

I doubt it, just because the characters the toys are based on weren't created or owned by you.

Although photographed image comics rarely ever work anyway, to be painfully honest.
