Wasn't sure if this counted as a promotion thread or not, so mods feel free to move it if needed, but given that today is Trans Day of Visibility, I thought it might be a good time to help our Trans Creators feel, well visible!

So! If you are a trans creator (or nonbinary, intersex, etc) then feel free to post your work here and talk a bit about what it means to you! I'd love to hear about your personal journey and how your work has effected or been affected by it!

if you are not trans, but you have someone you want to hype up, throw in their work too (with their permission, we're not outing people), and spread the support around! I would love for everyone that comes to this thread to check out at least one or two relevant works to help spread awareness of Trans/Nonbinary issues, especially given everything that's going on in the world.

To get things started I'll talk a bit about Brooders. This story is a specifically Trans Story that I wrote while I first started questions my own gender. I'm still putting in a lot of work with Therapy but Brooders centers around a young man named Werndel who is trying to discover himself through the art of trying to look dark and mysterious in the dim corners of taverns. like most brooders he isn't very good at it, but with the help of a few friends he finds a different kind of path, and discovers who she really is, taking on the name Rose. This story meant a lot to me, as did its reception, and I actually was tearing up a bit when writing her discovery. It helped to figure out who I was, and I hope that anyone who reads it finds hope in it as well.

No image because I'm linking directly to Brooder's first episode.

As a final aside, because I am also a witch, I wanted to post up this sigil I made of Divine Self-Alchemy. I hope any along the trans spectrum who see this sigil find comfort in it, and am happy to allow you to alter it for your own needs.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's work.

Hello! I'm Kai, a transmasc non binary person! I have three comics, I'll put only one here

I'm.... not very good explaining my journey and everything but. I'm out since 2017 and one of my comics has been transitioning with me

anytime!

I will be checking out any trans/enby creators that post in here too. if you happen to look at my stuff it'd be awesome of ya but no pressure.

I subscribed so I can check out later. Right now my mind is all bskdvbfdkjvbalkdj so I am not managing to focus

Hello! I'm a trans man. My writing isn't currently trans-related, but looking back I definitely used it as a way to express myself. I didn't grow up in an area where being trans was allowed, or even a concept, so it was the only way I could put my feelings into thoughts. Still not great at that last part lol
I've been working on learning to write better by rewriting this novel, and it's almost done!

I can't imagine how much of a challenge that must have been. I'll definitely look at your work at the earliest opportunity

EDIT: Nevermind I'm reading it now, and wow! The heaviness of the emotions at play is great! I can definitely get the repression vibes here. There's a lot of relateability early on

I'm nonbinary! My comic isn't trans themed but most my characters are lgbtq+ including several trans/nonbinary characters. Elena (Dana's sister) is a transwoman, she's a minor character in the first arc but she has a major plotline starting in the second arc and omg I'm so excited for it! And Arakiel (who will be introduced soon as a major character) is nonbinary. There's a few more characters who will be introduced in later arcs but that probably won't be for over a year still.

None of the characters' storylines focus specifically on trans or other lgbtq+ issues though, I thought about it but honestly being lgbtq+ irl is so stressful and overall exhausting that I prefer escapism for now. I'm not sure if that'll change in the future though.

So far Dana is super relatable. I really like your artstyle too. I have a feeling I'll really enjoy your comic when I can commit more time to it

It's TDOV already?? Time's passing too fast!

I'm a trans guy and my novel is very much a Trans Story, lol. I started the original version of Ruby Sea before I realized I was trans, which is extremely funny in retrospect, given the concept. I made some tweaks when I realized I'd made characters that were also trans, and wrote a lot of it as a way to cope with my own dysphoric depression in high school and undergrad. I'm doing a lot better now, which has the unfortunate side effect that it takes me longer for updates

Ruby Sea is a magical girl story about realizing you're transgender and a love letter to my sad, confused 12-year-old self. Very cathartic for me!

And I'll be putting the works in this thread on my to-read list - looks like the kind of content I came to Tapas for!

That sounds great! I'm gonna add you to my queue of works to check out!

Hey y'all, I'm a non-binary/genderfluid creator ^_^ My novel also has a transmasc person in the main cast, so yay!

That's great! I'll be checking out anyone I don't view tonight probably tomorrow morning, so you'll be one of them I'm sure!

I'll check out your story as well! I also appreciate your sigil ^_^

Hello!!! The name is Matias and I am a transguy, and my transition has been a COMPLETE rollercoaster but I am grateful to be surrounded by so much love and support from my boyfriend, friends, and family. I'm currently on a journey to learn to love myself, its hard, but I'm getting there :)!!!! Been on hormones for two years and hopefully in the future I get to further my transition.

I have my very first webcomic that is about a post—apocalyptic world taken over by demons and among them lurks a lone survivor known as the Demon Slayer— and she has a thirst for BLOOD.

Most of my cast are LGBTQ+!!!! I JUST introduced a genderqueer character and a transguy in my story as well, I'm currently working on the newest episode ^^!!

 Thanks so much! I will definetly check out your work, it sounds rly interesting !

I'm a transgender FTM author, so here's my novel, For the Love of Satan!

The main character is also transgender FTM, but I did my best to not have it have a major plot point with transphobia. Hope you guys enjoy!

I'll definitely check it out! I can't wait to sit down and read all of these stories!

Oh heck yeah, great thread.

I'm intersex, and my main character's gender is a mystery. Some think they're a boy, some think they're a girl... most call him "Graham", since that seems to be his name.

Hey y’all, I’m Kai
Though I go by Lemon Demon/Azriel Cian online
Here’s my first sci-fi novel

will be cool if you all could check it out :)) Happy TDoV!

Hi, I'm a nonbinary creator and this is my comic! Almost all of the characters in it are LGBT, though its not brought up much as the story isn't centered around it.

@Lemon_Demon and @nekocoa I'll try to get both of you later today as well! Bit of a hectic time, but all of the suggestions I haven't read yet sound like a ton of fun, so I'll be making time at my earliest convenience for them.

Okay, turns out I only had time to do one of these tonight, so here we go:

@girinma - I really appreciate your attention to detail and the dry sense of the character in your prologue, the hook of your story definitely worked, because despite only having time for the one chapter I'm happily subscribing to read when I have more time! You do great work and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

I'll be getting to everyone else in here in the order that they responded, so be on the lookout.

EDIT: I did a few more this morning.

@ZakuraTheFungi - your Red Dragon has a lot of interesting premises. A cult of assassins, and what seems to be many layers of organizations all point towards a convoluted mystery that will be interesting to dig into. Good job setting up your hook.

@ghostboy9708 - your comics artstyle is wonderfully anarchistic, and reminds me a lot of shows and comics of the 80s and 90s from when dystopic fiction and horror/demonic aesthetics were on the rise. I can feel the anger in your demon Slayer's story, and I'm getting some great DOOM vibes

I'll be checking out more soon!

hi! a little late, but I'm a nonbinary artist and this is my first comic. one of the main characters is also nonbinary and both of them are queer. it's sorta a surreal slice-of-life with anti-capitalist themes but it mostly focuses on the relationship between these two and their growth. been working on this for a whole year now, it updates every two weeks (or every week if I'm doing gag comics). hope you like it!

always looking for more punk comics and @ghostboy9708 yours kicks ass. instant subscribe

No worries! I'll add you to my queue.

@torncloak I checked out your first work. You do a great job of showing Graham's age in both mannerisms and how he's recieved by his peers. That he doesn't understand what's wrong with his actions is a great detail that really clicks, especially when shown from other perspectives. I also really enjoy your artstyle. Overall, nicely done.

Thank you! I have been a bit unsure if my hook was good enough since I tend to have a lot of views drop-off after the first chapter. Is that normal? Anyway, I really appreciate the feedback ^_^

Aw, thank you! Glad to hear the prologue is pulling its weight. Loved the first part of Brooders - wasn't expecting the humor going in, but the tone of the banter was fantastic.

Alright, I think I got everyone so here we go:

@LordMaru I'll be real with you, I'm not usually into furry stuff, but I did take a close look and it's refreshing seeing a setting that isn't very prolific. Your art style is on point and you did well blending the animalistic features into your design.

@Lemon_Demon - you've got a really good premise here. I think with some polish your novel has a lot of potential that's just waiting to come to light. The "twins" as I'll call them immediately got me thinking about what the meaning could be behind who they are and their similarities, and the sudden chaos was as confusing as it should be. Good work.

@nekocoa - your artstyle is adorable and I loved the little nod of "off-brand dreams". I always appreciate a good ghibli reference as well.

And finally, @spike_lxed you're comic was a pretty quick subscribe for me. It has a lot of folk-punk vibes which is something I heavily appreciate. There's a lot of depth and thought behind your work, and I love the style. I'm reminded of the quote "the good don't die young, they just haven't had time to f*** up like the rest of us yet" which is a line I've used for inspiration for some of my own characters. Looking forward to seeing more.

And... I think that's everyone! Let me know if I missed ya!

thanks so much! yeah, punk (folk or otherwise) is exactly the vibe I was going for. these characters have f'ed up plenty but they're not too far gone yet-
