Like the title suggests, I'm not much of a novel writer. I tried my hand at it a while back, but I never posted anything. Just kinda personal fulfillment, like I can do it if I try, you know? But I'm not vibing with the subject material or the delivery of what I wrote back then anymore, so I wanted to get a fresh start somewhere else. I've been writing comic scripts for months now and while that's a start, it's definitely not the same thing, so yeah, that's why I'm asking for advice.
Here's what I'm working with so far before officially writing anything. My main comic series, Kurogane, would follow these two siblings working as demon-slaying officers, making money to pay for the hospital bills of their comatose father. This novel I wanna write would follow their father and his last time working the same job 14 years earlier. I think it'd be an easier set-up for introducing the world and an earlier, much harder version of the job they work, while setting up that backstory the siblings would have later on.
The comic would touch on it eventually, but by not much, which is why I wanna write it as a separate self-contained thing. I'm currently working on it an outline for it so I know where I wanna go. My issue's the writing part itself, where I gotta make it presentable with thoughtfully constructed paragraphs and stuff. Outside of gaining experience from reading other novels and learning from those, what more can I do to make my first shot a good one?
