UK residence? Or on similar time zones?

Hi everyone!

I've been in the webcomic community for a couple of years now, and one thing I've noticed is that there aren't many people on similar time zones than me. I've tried a couple of ways to find artists, but it is SO DIFFICULT!

It gets a bit upsetting when I see people doing live feeds around 1am my time, I end up missing out a lot, and I can't really find anywhere that's actually available for people in my time zone.

I'd love to find other artists around that I can actually chat to in sessions about comic-related stuff without having to wait for them to wake, or just re-read what I missed out on :/

Plus one day I'm hoping to go to the UK comic conventions with my stuff and would love to be able to meet up with people I know from this community!

If anyone else finds this issue, please get in contact, I'm sure we can work something out so that no comic artist misses out on interacting with others

UK here! Though I am a bit nocturnal when it comes to working on the comic. But I tend to do livestreams 8-10pm on certain days. I've attended London MCM a few times now, and i definitely encourage tabling there : D It's a great opportunity to show off your work!

Oohh! I had a table in last year's July London Comic Con. Were you there by any chance?

Was it LFCC? I haven't been to that one yet, just London MCM Comic Con, the one in May and October. Though I'm also attending Thought Bubble this year for the first time!

Yep, LFCC! I travelled all the way from Spain to attend, and I absolutely loved London! Too bad I'm not going back this year at least, but I'm definitely attending some ASAP!

I'm in the UK. I'm from the South Coast, but I've been living in London for the last few months for a job. There are a few of us around on Tapastic, I believe. I attend conventions sometimes, but I haven't had a table yet.

I'm a UKer! Living up north in York. Noticed similar things, such as wanting to take part in the twitter #webcomicchat hashtag but falling asleep soon after it starts! I'm sure I read recently that they intend to do a European timed one too though so that could be good

@cryoclaire - sweet!! I really want to get a table there at some point, but the one I currently have my eye on is Thought Bubble up in Leeds. A couple of my friends who are obsessed with comics say that is by far the best one they've been too, even better that the London ones as it's more comic specific. I do also want to save up to go to the San Diego one, but think it would be a good idea to at least get some experience here in the UK first! I'm a bit of an early bird, but I only really require 6-7 hours sleep so tend to go to bed at midnight and wake up around 6:30am XD

@SandraMJ Dude, if you come to another one in the UK, we should totally meet up! Be cool if we could get some stands, though it would be nice to be able to walk around and meet new people I am sure we have plenty of time to organise something if you're up for it

@gateofselidor OOooooo where about's in the South? I'm currently in Dorset hope the job is going well! I have seen a few people from the UK, but definitely not to the same extent as there are people from the US. So be nice to be able to actually find out in one place where people around this side of the world are based so we can actually build up the community and chat

I'm Swedish, so we're only one hour off from one another!

When I livestream, I tend to do it from about 19.00 local time onwards - which I suppose would be 18.00 local for you. I'm thinking of livestreaming tomorrow, as a matter of fact.

I've been considering visiting cons in England, but haven't yet (because money), but I'd probably try going as a visitor first, and consider tabling the next time around if I like the con. I do have friends who have been to cons in England, and they seem pretty positive about it!

Yea I think a friend of mine was talking about hosting one (he lives in Seattle but has odd working hours) coz he misses out too. I always seem to miss out on that people have invited me but it's no good DX I have tried to be patient to see if anyone would create one but I thought "heck, if it bothers you so much, do something about it!", so decided to finally ask around! It's great to see so many responding already!

Have you heard of CVA? It's a facebook group for UK-based comickers, lots helpful people there : D

@AnnaLandin The UK cons are huge, probably not as big as the San Diego one, but they are big. I've not been to one myself, I've wanted to wait until my comic at least has volume one printed. I've been told the thought bubble one in Leeds is meant to be awesome! A little further North, but I've been told I won't be disappointed

Unfortunately I am busy tonight! If I can, I might pop in to say hi!! I've been considering doing a livestream, but I tend to leave that for my Patrons, to give them something to look at while we chat live XD perhaps next time! Thanks for the response!

I'm planning BIGGER next year, to actually GET a table at Manx MCM Comic con, stroke-CON-trent and trying leeds again if its good. Maybe either the Wrexham comic con too if I can afford it
