Hello,
My name is Zac, I am 22 and am currently looking to work as a manga creator.
As stated in the title I am wanting to create a long-running shounen manga.
I am pretty new to writing, and this will be my first proper work.
Length: Unknown but most likely a few years.
Schedule: hopefully one chapter a week, but can work with one every 2 weeks.
Chapter size: 20ish pages.
Payment: will be unpaid at first, but I am looking to get published, either in japan (I understand it is incredibly difficult) or online, so if we make money either on the publication or through add revenue etc, it will be split equally.
Style: Anime styled, somewhere between Fairy Tail and Bleach, but if you have your own style that fits we can talk about that too.
Preferred form of communication: Discord (it's free if you don't have it)
Genre: sci-fi - space
Story summary: My story focus's on 2 twins (male and female) and they live on a small disc like world that floats through space, it has multiple layers each disc layer has a different habitat (desert, forest etc), the top disc where they live is your typical plains and rivers, with a few villages (these are around the level of the middle ages) and in the center of the disc is a hole that leads down and of course it is forbidden to be entered.
The twins wield a power that was obtained by their mother when they where still inside her, and thus the power was split between them, their mother died during birth and they were raised by their father.
The story starts when a mysterious woman appears on the disc, she is actually a space cop who is hunting a notorious criminal who she tracked to the disc, and enlists the twins help in finding the criminal, who turns out to be their father, who has now disappeared, and as they soon find out they are trapped unable to leave the disc and so the 3 venture below to find answers, to which they discover that the discs they live on is actually a ship called an "ark" and that by completing it's trials they can leave, after clearing the trials they are marked and rewarded with it's treasures, mainly a ship.
Now ready to leave they discover a fleet of space ships waiting for them, as arks are test ground filled with treasure, and many of them are actually nigh impossible to access from the outside, so many space nations leave an envoy in waiting, in order to recruit those that clear them as along with it's treasures, they marked are also able to access further riches on other arks and each nation values that from a military standpoint.
The 3 are bombarded with offers to join their nation but ultimately they choose to join one of the smaller ones, because this nation instead of trying to expand it's military power, it wants them to join their exploration crew, because they believe not in fighting for the space in which is already owned, but that people should focus on expanding into space left undiscovered.
The twins join this crew of explores and they do create a crew of their own, who explores using the ship they just found but they are also a sub crew of a larger ship, this allows some secondary members to join for certain arcs only, the cop also joins in order to continue tracking the twins father.
I do have a bit for this story, though being a shounen there will still be a lot of work to do before we are ready to publish.
I also have another story with a similar amount of content, which can be discussed if interested, but this is the story I have chosen to do.
Most likely we should create a one shot first, in order to see how it will look, and whether we work well together first.
some additional things to remember.
Obviously a shounen is a very big endeavor, so remember to keep in mind that they can take years and are big commitments.
I do live in Australia, so consider if you can make a timezone difference work.
I am new to this, so also think about whether or not your are okay working with someone new.
Please, post here if your are interested, as I have a friend who sometimes checks here and they will be able to let me know of any posts, and then I can Pm you with more details.
Thanks for reading,
Zac.
