Marvel poisoned the blockbuster cinematography by the notions that you must have humor and cinematic universes everywhere no matter if it belongs there or not. Just add a quirky character that doesn't treat the situation seriously and throws meta jokes and state that you'll make a metric ton of sequels and spinoffs, the audiences love that! (Of course, the other extreme is the Snyder treatment of grimderpness...)

the Mandalorian is not that great of a show.
No, it's the best thing that came out of the whole Disney deal after Rogue One and the revival of CW to tell their last season(Which wouldn't need to be revived if Disney haven't canceled it immediately after the deal, and yes you bet I'm still salty about that!), no doubt.
But it isn't anything groundbreaking in terms of plot. Most of the series are pretty formulaic, especially in the second season, and some of the episodes just flat out lift their plots from the classic movies with almost no changes (such as that "Seven Samurai" episode). And Din takes off his helmet.
