Novel: The Celestion-5 is set to be humanity's first manned ship to Neptune. For such an important journey, you'd think some care would be put into choosing the crew, but no! It was mostly random selection. Half of the crew are rookies fresh out of high school, and the other half are still absurdly young. This group of assorted goofballs will have to band together to survive the journey to Neptune and back. Updates daily at 9:00AM PST (until May 11th!)

That made Angelo think of his own brother, as well as one of the fears plaguing him for the last few months. “Lieutenant…?”

“Galhardo, but you don’t hafta call me that.”

“Aren’t you s-scared of going so far away?” He rubbed his knuckles against each other. “How do you know for sure we’ll come back?”

“My big bro is one of the best pilots there is!” Emil pointed at himself. His orange-brown eyes glistened in the sunlight. “I know he’ll get us back safely.”

Angelo would say something like that about his own brother. “Oh, your brother’s th-the captain? That must be nice...”

Underneath the ship, they entered a metallic green room. Its door shut behind them soon after. Spooky, but not spooky enough to make him forget how much he missed his brother.

“Ash…” I decided not to finish the sentence.
“What?” he asks.
“Nothing.”
“Iris.”
“I’m fine.”
He raises a brow. “Fine?” he asks.
I nod. “Fine.”
“Fine,” he agrees, although skeptical. He sighs. He lets go of me and I fall back in my chair. He doesn’t respond but sits down in front of me. I sigh.
“Ash,” I say quietly, feeling the need to talk to someone.
"Yeah?" he breathes out.
“Can you stay with me for a bit?” I plead, breaking eye contact and looking down at my lap.
He contemplates my request for a minute before his eyes soften. “Alright.”

Did Angelo have an excuse? Many, actually. He only had enough money for his Dryvr driver. Even if he thought to bring more, the guy robbed him. This left him with no money to do his laundry when his travel unit went to hotels. Hiding under a concrete fort probably didn’t help matters. Could he bring himself to say all of that?

Leon raised his hand.

“He is a star ranger.” The captain paid him little attention. “I expect he can speak for himself.”

Leon shook his head. “He can’t, sir. At least, not right now. We don’t really know what it is, but crying makes him not able to speak for a little while.”

“I see. Both of you are assigned to furnace duty. You for speaking out of turn, again, and your brother for his failure to comply with Interstellar Forces appearance standards.”

Once again, he raised his hand.

“You may speak, Ranger Summers.”

“But I was already assigned to furnace duty today.”
