Was anyone else expecting nanowrimo to be harder than it ended up being?

Like on October 30th I was basically done, and so I started, and just sort of dropped 1000 words like nothing.

Then on Halloween I had a few hundred more words, but not as many. It was Halloween after all. Then yesterday I pretty easily did 1600 words. I'd never had this easy of a time writing more than a thousand words, and I thought 1600 was going to be a near impossibility. I guess it was just the style of writing I'm going for that makes it so different. Maybe it was just the shiny new idea syndrome. Maybe it was both. I'm not sure where it's going since it's literally November 2nd, but whatever.

Edit, holy fuck it's November second and I'm at 4400 words.

It's still early in the month. I would reserve judgment until around the 20th, lol.

Yeah I know. But I normally have a hard time breaking 600 words, and an even harder time breaking 1000.

I did NaNoWriMo for a long while until eventually I wrote my own projects consistently enough throughout the year that the event ended up becoming more a distraction than a help. Some years were easier than others--one time I wrote the 50,000 by the 13th and ended up at around 101,000 words. Other years I fought tooth and nail to keep up. It definitely varies by excitement, style, flow of ideas, and just generally how much time you have to devote to writing. Always a great feeling when the initial push at the beginning stays with you the whole month! Good luck!
